    What's up guys. I know there are a lot of bikers on BHW so I figured I'd make a new kind of journal. Follow me as I restore a 99 ZX7R *****. I figured since it's riding season here in AZ I would look for a bike on CL. Well I found this ZX7R for a $500 and plan to get it restored and fixed up for this riding season. It needs a ton of little stuff. The bike is currently not running but I have it down to some electrical issues. So far found a short in the ignition and it seems like the starter solenoid/relay is out.

    I'm having mechanic over this weekend to help troubleshoot some issues and make a master list of parts to order.

    Information breakdown:

    99 ZX7R
    43k miles
    Purchased for $500
    Salvage Title (I have not spotted any real frame, sub frame or swingarm damage.)
    Needs lots of work

    Link to spreadsheet to watch my parts and labor list

    I'll pretty much be living on ebay over the next few weeks to purchase parts. I'm hoping to get it in really good condition for 2k. See pics below.

    Thanks guys. I'll keep you updated with list of parts purchased, price and labor cost. I'll be doing some of it myself but giving the mechanic the more technical stuff.

    Just made a public spreadsheet to keep an eye on all parts and labor for this bike. You can find it here

    Cool....My last bike was a Z750 S Spectre shaft drive. At the time I wanted something really fast so I got rid of it.....wish I had it parked in the garage now

    Good luck with your bike...looks nice even without any tidying up

    Hey another AZ boy! Weathers perfect now, huh! All you have to do is endure 110* for 3 months a year.

    Is that a standup jetski in the background? I have an old js440 I'm restoring for next lake season

    Good luck with your resto

    Nice bike.. Any frame damage?

    @AR!ZONA

    Yeah, perfect time to ride. It's in E-Ton 150cc scooter.. I just sold it today to help pay for parts for the ZX7R. Where you at in AZ? PM me.

    @flexnds

    Nice score. Doesn't look bad at all, mostly cosmetic. With 43k miles do you plan on rebuilding the motor? I didn't know so many bike enthusiasts were on the forum. Subscribed :)

    P.S. - If only it were a 7RR! :D

    @gimme4free

    Ha ha, I have the exact same ZX6R! I started to replace the clutch, then decided f*ck it i'll just take the whole damn thing apart! Still haven't put her back together yet, lol :D

    I'd like to do a rebuild, but definitely want to put some more miles on it before I do that. I'll be keeping an eye out for a ZX7R motor to rebuild while riding this.

    Updated parts list.

    We think we have the electrical issue down to the ignition module now. Just ordered one on ebay and should be here within a week. Hoping to have this thing running after I get this part.

    Also, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a new full fairing setup. But just wondering what you guys think of streetfighter style. I've seen some pretty cool ones when they are done right.
