Does anyone even follow the threads that are "Follow me on my road to $X,XXX a month?"

I know I sure as hell don't, and in fact I haven't come across and read one that has ever finished out as successful the way the poster made the title.

I know I am not a mod, but as a suggestion BHW shouldn't allow these posts. Alternatively, the people who want to do this should journal it outside of BHW and post the step-by-step to success as one solid post as motivation to others.

Too many of these threads pop up, and a small (if any) are ever finished to completion. If people posting them need cheering on, go get some friends or hire Tony Robbins.

Has nothing to do with age. It's the content of the posts. I didn't think this was a LiveJournal site.....

Making threads complaining about journals/case studies only makes it worse. You're adding to the amount of topics with "Journal" or "Follow" in the section, and your post is completely useless, whereas some of the Journals have some good info in them.

There are so many more "please spoon feed me" threads, and help threads that could be answered in 30 seconds with a search... that this isn't really a problem.

Nothing wrong with progress threads. I wouldn't mind them having their own separate subforum though.

Oh trust me, I don't. It's like reading a book that just fades away without any completing chapters. Might as well not start writing it.

Yes, I'm adding to the problem by asking for people to simply complete their journal first and THEN post it as a single post instead of a live-feed. Yeah sounds like I'm creating a huge ruckus over that simple suggestion.

You guys are right though, I don't read them, so why should I care? Oh, I don't know, maybe because I'd rather BHW members not read 17 page thread to realize the OP is back working at the Drive-Thru at Burger King rather than completing their journal.

Sorry guys, didn't mean to save you time. Get back to wasting it.

I agree completely. I consider those threads annoying and most likely disingenuous, and figure the only reason people mention an age (I figure they're usually lying) is in order to engender support and get offers for help.

Journal threads are great because of their motivational value and in giving and feeding new (or old-forgotten) ideas. Completion of these journals will not give you, "the reader", the true insight into if that method (twist) effective or not, anyway. It depends on so many factors, that judging only on completion results - that's a true waste of your time.

I say, bring them more!!! Journals! Journals!

I agree that too many of them are self-promoting, but there was a 15 year old kid on here a month ago (probably still here) who was from some eastern bloc country that had some pretty inspirational stuff. He was really working hard, had some illness and didn't have $ for the doctor, etc...it put a lot of stuff in focus for me about how good many of us have it in comparison and how easy it is to moan and groan about everything. So I think it isn't a fact that all journey posts are good/bad, but that one has to use discernment in reading....the same thing goes for everything posted on bhw, though. :)
