Flippa doubled their Listing Price. Is this the end of Flippa?

Last Week, Flippa increased the price 2X for almost all categories.

Starter sites which used to have listing price of $9, now costs $19
To relist the site, now one has to spend $9(earlier it was $4)

On top of that, they have increased the success fee from 10% to 15% now

Domain sales fees have also been increased.

I was about to list one of my site on flippa but after seeing the price zoom, I am DONE with them.

And I have found numerous other sellers complaining about the price rise and they are planning to move away from flippa and rightly so.

Starter sites usually sell between $50- $100. Assuming that one site sells for $70, with $19 listing fee + 15% success fee, net profit is $43.

The biggest problem is that if site does not sell, $19 is gone. Therefore, first risk your $19 and then even if the site sells, we earn about $43 which is just a petty amt.

Flippa wants to earn as much as they want, without caring about their sellers. Without sellers, flippa is Big 0

I am sure with this move, large chunk of people will move away from flippa as selling websites are not worth/profitable at the moment.

And it is blessing in disguise for their competitors.

I think that downfall of flippa has started now....

its all are valid points. Particularly for starter site, the price has too much.

    Business as usual.

Sure, sellers will bitch and moan for a while then one day in a few months you'll wake up and that'll just be the way it is.

For every one individual who stops using the site, two more will start.

I'm not associated with Flippa, haven't done any Flippa related activities in about 5 years so I'm not bothered either way.

Just sounds like BUSINESS as usual to me. Things change, you have to be flexible enough to change with them.

Things change for good but in this case, they are getting worse. This move would have crushed numerous sellers whose main source of income is from site selling.

And when sellers move away from flippa, they would then realize that it was a big mistake.

Yes, we all want a solid competitor for flippa so that they start mending their ways. Right now, they think they are a monopoly and can do whatever they want. Same like Google...

People need to stop patronizing flippa and they wouldn't grow as big and will gradually lose their power. There is room for someone else to dominate the site selling markketplace and know flippa out the water!

Yes, same here. Cost of stopping me to list sites on flippa. I failed to understand that internet is an open market. Why there is no competitor for flippa? Even Google has bing or others as solid competitor.

If $19 / $9 is prohibiting you from either listing or buying a site on Flippa - you boys need to step up your game ;)

Flippa will scam you and then block your email. Don't deal with them.

Seems like there are good brokers for buying/selling sites in the 5 figure range but when it comes to anything under that we are stuck with the shit hole that Flippa is. Hoping somebody with the right contacts will make a new platform and wipe them out.

I've been hearing news all over about the Flippa site fees increase. I think it's ridiculous what they are doing and usually when I see companies pull desperate profit-making stunts like this, it's usually a sign that they're in distress and are eventually going down

Yes, we are hoping for the same. All it requires is Initiative + motivation to succeed + Investment = SUCCESS

Or may be the owner of the flippa is greedy and wants to increase his profits even though he is already making a fortune. But this step can hit back and they can go down pretty soon. Let's hope for the best.

If there was a valid competitor they wouldnt be able to charge the fees, just like with ebay.

Plus they are probably trying to cover for the fact half the sellers never pay the final value fee and just create a new account to sell.
