I have an old site which I don't remember anchor text ratio or whatever. I was just sent so many links to it of all kinds along with social signals.

It could never really crack the first page but still makes some commissions.

It's in competitive pets niche but still sticks around in 2nd and 3rd page for some major keywords.

So far this is what I have decided..
    1. Generate link reports from ahref and majestic and collect anchor text info.
    2. Revamp the content and make it longer and better then now.
    3. Once revamp complete send social signals.
    4. Hope for best.

Any suggestions? What would you do if you had bought such a website?

How's the anchor text result from those reports? If it doesn't look natural, build more links with brand domain/naked url. Otherwise, build high quality links to those pages that stuck on page 2 and 3.

Revamp the content is a good move but make sure you interlinking them too / siloing your site.
