I have a successful songwriting gig on fiverr, I'm in the top rated sellers for the category and have sold over 100+ songs with a 100% rating. A buyer that I just wrote a song for wants a refund because he doesn't think the song is "good". I spent a lot of time on the song and it's really good.

/I don't want to lose my 100% feedback, but I don want to give him a refund AND the product I worked on.

    What do I do?

Refund him the money, but make an agreement for him not to use your lyrics in any ad related things. If he breaks the agreement, you can sue him.

Yes as the OP will own all rights, if the buyer refuses then clearly he is just trying to grab a freebie.

If the agreement is valid with the country's laws then you could even sue some one for eating your doughnut.

usually the actual possibility of a lawsuit can help prevent people from doing certain things...
would you risk being sued for a mere 5 dollars?

op, 1337python gave you the best solution possible... i doubt that person would use the song if you set
an agreement with him, maybe next time give a sample of your song to the buyer before delivering the gig, if he doesn't like it you either change it a bit or you both agree on cancelling the gig.

It's not about the money. This buyer obviously wants a freebie. And like this gig, there are many gigs on fiverr that are worth way more than 5 dollars. When you have a buyer who can't even give someone $4 their hardwork, its worth a law suit.

Right up a nice little agreement on Word document. Make it look official. Be as nice as possible, and if he does leave you a neg contact fiverr. Explain the situation to them.

The price tag says $5, which means the price is $5. There is no:"This worth way more"cause it aint. You know why? Cause he decided to sell his work for $5....that's it. That's economy.

Agreed, but c'mon. The dude wrote him a song for $4, and he wants his money back? And according to OP, it is good which we will never know. But if he really does have 100% feedback and has sold over 100... i'm going to just assume that it's worth the $5 he sold it for - at minimum.

To some extent I agree with you but your logic is flawed on the point... You can go to a yard sale and pay 10 bucks for something.. yet the value could be considerably more then the 10 bucks. Value is only based on current perception .. which can change greatly.

Just refund him/her the fucking money. He/She might be the poorest guy / girl on earth. Forget him / her and continue your business (obviously, if that wasn't your only customer)

Nothing you can do really. I would post the song around before they get a chance to use it and make yourself a blacklist that you won't need to deal with them again. Especially if you use multiple accounts there

Completely flawed logic. Price and worth are not always correlated. Saying the OP "decided to sell his work for $5" is way too simplistic. The OP decided to provide his services in a medium where there is a lot of traffic and eyes for selling his service.

OP you could try doing what was mentioned, write up something legal looking, but it really won't be worth the time to try and being a lawsuit. Either refund him, or if he leaves negative feedback, you could try to have Fiverr support remove it. Not much you can do.
