I have recently launched my first wordpress based website. It is a niche website with unique articles, adsense, and an amazon store front. Should the amazon associates and google adsense be the only forms of monetization? How can I get more targeted traffic to the site? I read the posts in the money making section, and will find the top forums in this niche, but i read somewhere that that is not the best way to get targeted traffic. Are there any tools i should invest in now? Im sorry i will admit i am a complete beginner, but i am hoping to learn a lot!

    Ramus313,

You can drive more traffic by performing some offsite SEO. Create external properties on free business listing websites that include your business information and links to your website. You could also use a service such as Yext to accomplish this with less effort and develop a more consistent web presence. You should also create a business page on major social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Google Plus and upload content frequently. I'm not sure what acme is so some of these tactics may or may not benefit your model. Also look into article directories, document sharing, web 2.0 sites and other back link building tactics.

Natually you shouls also do some onsite SEO and you could also explore some PPC methods.

Check out these links for more information on driving traffic to your site,

Anywhere in the world building WP sites.
Do it one step at a time. Focus on traffic first then monetization.

Especially if you try to build followers, putting up ads too soon may not be the way to go. It throws people off. When you have a brand and people know your site, they are more forgiving.

Depends on your niche, there are many ways to monetize. This forum has rich information about every aspect of it.

Do some research around on the forums about keyword research. Basically, go to google and type in "google external keyword tool" when you get to it, check the box "exact" and uncheck "broad". Then type in search terms related to your websites niche. When you find about 15/20 good search volume keywords (800-10,000 searches), put them into traffic travis and see what their competition is on the first page. Then create content daily for your website and send backlinks to your sites pages. Then create a tier 1 of web 2.0 backlinks that that your websites link in them. Then create a big anchor text of all of those web 2.0 links and create an article with that anchor text at the bottom and send wiki links to those web 2.0s. Those wiki's will be your tier 2's. This should atleast get you started and it hope it helps.

Before you do all the work and research on how to get traffic, consider doing some reading on conversions, because before doing some SEO, I always like to test the page to see if it converts well ( Visitors/sales). Try testing the page with Facebook PPC,Adwords,Bing.

You can have 15 000 visitors to your site everyday and make 0$ if it's not user-friendly, even with adsense.

It's like opening a store on a jam-packed boulevard without having a door in front of it!

    Hope my little philosophy helps!

I'm sorry i'm not really sure what you mean. Could you explain in a little more detail? i would consider the site to be very user friendly, based on its layout in comparison to other sites i have seen. However, i don't really have any statistics, because the site gets no traffic at the moment. Thanks for the help!

What is your guys's opinion on article marketing via enzine? I have heard mixed things about it here on BHW. How exactly does it work? do i publish the unique articles that i have on my website word for word, then backlink keywords to my site?
