So I made $19.79 from a CB sale by posting my affiliate links on a few niche-related forums. I got only 20 hops and made one sale.

Naturally I'm like "I need to scale this shit up."

So I rinse and repeat for several forums and niche products.

I get over 200 hops but no sales. (I'm using bit.ly for tracking.)

I was really happy that I actually made a sale happen, but now it seems like my well has already gone dry...Any help?

I'd reveal the exact post I made that made me the sale, but I don't think it's very useful any more considering I've been applying it even harder than I initially did with no results. (PM me if you'd like it any way)

Anyone have a better forum-posting strategy? Or some other method that costs $0 to use?

I heard but im not sure if its true.. It sure seem like it though.

CB will give you your first sale so that you will be all excited and shit then market it even more.. it did the same thing to me. Its been about 1.5 years ago I signed up to CB and just made a few articles and a few post and BAM made a sale within a day.

I was so happy that I started posting links everywhere for the next week.. :( nothing..

I honestly think though you need targeted traffic to make some decent sales. Organic targeted traffic would be best..

    just my 2 cents

Build a free content website about that niche and keep posting articles on the subject. Also keep building backlinks on a weekly basis.

After a few months when you've got 50+ articles and many backlinks you should get a good amount of traffic from long tail searches on google, all on autopilot.

Better to do it this way since it's just the initial work and not ongoing work.

Just make sure you don't publish articles/content all at once, do like 1 a day or 2 a week or so. Depends on how much you're willing to work.

It takes work, but if you do it you will make money.

    Also...

If your niche is "weight loss" focus on creating a content site around a smaller sub-niche like "weight loss for pregnant women". This way you'll get better rankings thus more traffic.

Better to aim at sub-niches, even if they don't get much traffic you'll get way more traffic than if you had gone for the competitive keyphrase.

    Hope that helps.

Oh yeah, and do social bookmarking and pinging for all the articles you publish, wordpress automates the pinging part.

Also want to comment on what the other replier said about
"clickbank giving you your first sale to get you excited"...

This isn't true, clickbank simply does it job, it doesn't try to fool new affiliates.

I know this as I've had product sites where I had to manually activate memberships for members after they emailed me. And clickbank has never tricked me.

So you can trust clickbank, they ain't playing games with you.
You just need to work harder these days since everything is more competitive.

You're on the right track, but you have to get traffic that will keep coming over time, which is really hard to do in forum posting only. Build out a site centered around your niche and then forum post - link to your site. You want to get the visitors at YOUR place so you can control them.

Sorry, but you simply made your first sale. I can tell you without qualification...Clickbank NEVER give a first sale or any other sale away that was not ordered. They do not give sales to make you "excited".

@OP What you are doing now is really a time consuming task which gives minimal success rate. You can follow the advice given by Erik. Yes, it is time consuming but works perfectly. You can also try creating a review type site for any popular clickbank product and promote them. If you are good in SEO, do some keyword research and rank for the CB product keywords which you are promoting.

Thanks for all the useful tips guys :).

After my first post I was looking through my email and I decided to verify my accounts at a few niche forums and try once more before giving in. I'll agree that it's fairly time consuming, but I found that simply switching niches helps. I'd recommend this method for a few quick bucks but as you've stated it's not consistent.

Either way I made another sale last night within a few hours of posting :).

I'm only trying to make enough to cover buying a new domain name and upgrading my hostgator account from being able to host one domain name to being able to host many. (could I park my initial domain and use a new one I bought to save myself from upgrading from the hatchling package to do this?)

Either way as soon as I get about $20 more I'm gonna build a targeted niche website. I'd like to have carte-blanche over my traffic and I can easily generate loads of unique content because I'm a dynamo when it comes to stuff like that.

I've also played with the idea of refining my forum posting method a bit more and selling it as an Ebook on clickbank. I know I can get results based on the types of accounts I create, as well as the overall tone of the posts I make on said forums. Is this a good idea for generating better income?

I had one CB Forex sale and made 85.00. The minimum payout was set for 100.00. They took away 10.00 each month until I had 0.00 left. I also was very excited after this sale and posted everywhere. I use CJ now and Linkshare primarily. I hope you have better luck than I did with CB.

I think what CyberZilla said was spot on in terms of initial way to start promoting for CB product

You need to understand some basic statistics.

Just because you made your first sale at 1:20 then that doesn't mean that you can expect every sale to roll in like clockwork every 20 clicks. For forum click traffic, a ratio of 1:500 would be more realistic. That means you get another 1478 clicks without a sale, but then get a sale on both your 1499th and 1500th clicks, for an average ratio of 1:500.

Every click is an independent event; previous clicks don't affect the behaviour of later clicks (obviously).

Sales occur on a normal distribution. Statistically you need 30 sales to get a meaningful value of what your conversion ratio really is (the mean).

However you can estimate what your conversion ratio is and the probability that you should have x signups in y clicks by using a poisson distribution. Read this, it is one of the most important things you will ever read in IM: http://www.buildinganempire.com/poisson2.html

Bottom line is that you need more traffic and 200 clicks isn't enough to be making any kind of judgments on.

CB merchants aren't converting well I think , and most of the time you are lost into some '' vicious cycles '' , even wrost ...

some realistic stats :) the time frame from this stat's can't be copied but suppose you consider me honest and you understand I didn't altered my crappy stats , CB is possible to be scaled , unfortunately it's not for everyone lol ...

FOREX- not for the common man...the most money in any niche is made by the person selling the info on the niche not persons involved in the niche...

ex: the only people making big buck in the forex niche arepeople selling courses or seminars 1-1 coaching etc...and the big investors who invest as a profession (wall street)

same in the IM niche the people selling you push button softwares ,seo, traffic, product creation etc make all thier money from selling the info not from the actual niche itself...they don't use the stuff they sell.or very seldom you find a marketer whose actually actively using the methods he teaches...

    the monies in the info...

thanx and i have an affiliate site that pays $1000 per sale...anybody wants it it's free but only if you go through my link...it's being sold for $27 elsewhere...include complete marketing strategy with a new twist enabling you to have little to no competition

the key is if you put the same effort you've done above to a high ticket affiliate program you'd have made $1k from that one sale...catch my drift...

"scale it up": that never seems to work for me. I'll get some sales or leads... Then I rinse and repeat, scale-it-up: at that point it all turns into shit.

    Congrats o0n the sale tho.

Hey, yes affiliate marketing can be tough if you are trying to figure it out on your own, or you are buying some of the hyped up products or guides out there that promise you the world and dont deliver. I was just were you were only a few months a ago, no I am not making enough to quit my job or anything, but recently I found a coaching club by a real down to earth guy who basically holds your hand the whole way, will answer your emails, texts, and phone calls himself, and tells you everything that he has done to get to where he is now making over 6 figures a year from nothing but affiliate markeing. I have tried to do it myself and let me tell you, I wish I found this guy along time ago, who knows where I would be today. If you have time, check out his video at www.onlinefitnessteam.com (http://www.onlinefitnessteam.com/) you will not regret it. Thanks let me know if you have any questions.

LOL what BULLSHIT!! You give some scam info above and then sneak in your affiliate link hidden behind the link you posted hoping to make a Clickbank sale on the Clickbank forum??

You must be really desperate for sales if you think you can fool BHW members with your little trick!

You also say you wish you found this guy a long time ago, yet the product has only been around 3/4 months according to Clickbank!
