Like the title says, I've gotten my domain to the number one spot on a 22k search a month keyword (according to adwords) and I've gotten 6 and 9 page views in the last two days (the first two of it being up). What is going on?

    Thanks

I did. The keyword has very low competition atm because it is something that has yet to be released... but I WOULD expect it to get around 22k hits... I have no idea why I'm not getting them though. Do you think maybe it has to do with analytics?

EDIT: The popularity on trends is in the 20's

I'm saying that the number of searches is believable. But I would hate to ditch this project for it could bring in lots of money at its peak. Lets just say the release preceding this one (This is the squeal) had a 10+million searches at its peak.

You are most likely using broad search when you should be using exact search. Also just because you are #1 for something that gets 22k hits, you aren't gonna get 22k hits. That would mean everyone who searched for the word would click your website, which is obviously not the case. You can prob expect about 40% or so from a #1 spot, but even that depends on a lot of other factors.

This may be it! The majority of the searches are showing up from other countries.. but all my traffic is from the US and Canada. I'll try it and see if this works. Thanks.

I know that I wont be getting 22k hits a month from the website, but I expected a little more than 10 a day!

EDIT: I think jonoryan was correct. I looked at the proxy from where the majority of searches were coming from (Australia.. for they are the first to get the release) and I was barely indexed! Any idea why this may be? Google not crawling my site in Aussy??

i donĀ“t trust this adwords tool...

example: i rank at 3 for a keyword and this kw has 1k volume/month.
i get 700 unique users everyday with this kw only from google....
    i get 1500/day for a better keyword ( google adwords say : 10k/month )

i can write a bible about it.

edit: all exact search and local..

It had its most success in the United States in its last product... But like i said it is releasing in Aussie first... So there may just be a lot more competition I guess.

    could be lots of reasons.

    1. the traffic is seasonal (ie. the search term gets 100k in one month but only 2-3k per month for the remaining 11 months).
    2. The keyword was a fad and has lost its popularity. Think of the keyword, "BP oil spill" over time.

That isn't a dance. If the product hasn't been released fully, then obviously you would expect tons of more websites and blogs to feature news and reviews about the product as the days go on. They are simply outranking you. If you want an example: Try to rank a website for "2018 olympic hockey team" right now. You will easily get number 1. But wait 7 more years, and you will be smashed to the bottom most likely.

All the websites were there before. This product doesn't come out for another year and a half. The competition is literally like 3 websites, and then there are around 30 pertaining to the product that preceded it. I'm almost positive its dancing with me, but correct me if I am still wrong

A google dance is really when a new site launches in hardcore mode for an already established keyword, OR when an existing site launches an aggressive backlinking strategy and confuses Google.

    The google dance happens because:
1)Google is trying to figure out how you are getting so many backlinks so fast, and seeing if they should rank you based on future potential.
2)Google sees so many different sources of links, that each time they spider a new source, they give or take away your level of relevance to certain keywords based on the content of where your links are found.

That is what I feel the google dance is. If they are all the same site in your keyword serps as before, then they are most likely doing more aggressive SEO than you, or Google didnt like something about your content/linking and that's why they outrank you now.

I just started SEO on this website which is also fairly new. I purchased 11k backlinks (right before I got to #1 (only around 250 stuck)) off of fiverr which may be setting google off. Thanks for all the help so far though guys!
