Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if you can help me:

I've got a new site which has my keyword in the domain and title etc, but still has no PR and only a few backlinks etc. I've done my research in Market Samurai and the competition on page 1 for my keyword is big - the top 10 sites have 1000 to 100,000 backlinks to their page, PR from 2 to 6 and so on.

My question is, what do you think it would take for me to get on the first page?

Please pm me your quote, including:

1. How long it will take.
2. How much it will cost.
3. Roughly what you would do (backlinks etc).

Thank you.

How many pages are competing and overall from my experience is it seems to me that it might take work but it all depends if it's a long tail keyword then things may be different. Alot of factors take into account when it comes to dominating serps...One thing is if there are lots of backlinks do a backlink analysis on the competing sites and from there try to get an idea on how hard it would be. Without the keyword this is all i can do.

It's a single word keyword...anyone able to give me a rough cost / time estimate?

No one will be able to give you a quote without knowing your keywords. You have to look at the competition as a whole, not just the number of links pointing to that page. If they're MFA sites that just have a lot of backlinks it's one thing. If they're authority sites it's a completely different story.

Thanks vette09, I see what you mean.

What does MFA mean?

MFA = Made for Adsense. They're generally small sites of just a few pages so they can be fairly easy to outrank - you just need more backlinks usually.

What have you been doing to promote your site? Rather than hiring someone to get it to #1 the money would probably be better spent on a couple pieces of software and some time so you can learn how to do it on your own. Getting backlinks isn't hard, it's just time consuming. So you can automate it to make it faster or outsource it to free your time. Either way, you should learn how to do it yourself too.

Look at building the following kinds of links:

Articles
Profiles
Blog Comments
Forum Signatures
Social Bookmarking
Press Releases

Get creative! If you want to PM me your site info I'll take a look for you and give you some feedback...
