    Hi,

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this question...

I am on the first page of Yahoo for a bunch of my keywords, but am not in Google anywhere (well anywhere that matters at least...)...

Is there anyway that I can build my Google up to match Yahoo? I have done a crap load of commenting, angela/paul stuff, etc...

Why am I 1st page Yahoo and not Google? Maybe someone can explain the difference between the two for me?!

    Thanks!

I have found that Google puts more emphasis in the quality of the backlinks, and the relevancy. Seems with Yahoo and Bing, their algos are much less sophisticated. With Yahoo and Bing you can put the keyword in the Title Tag, and Description tag, and spam the shit out of web 2.0 site, forums, profiles, ect, and next thing you know you are on the first page. But another thing I have found is that they will fluctuate much more. You can be on page one in Yahoo and 2 days later you are at page 16.

What I have been doing in the last few months is using Market Samurai's PR, and Anchor Text Analysis tools. See what the competition is doing to get their links, and mirroring it. Usually with a combination of links I can mirror from the all the top 10 sites, you can get a massive amount of relevant links.

One common theme I see with the top websites, is relevant sites in that niche. Definitely a common factor with Google. I will see a site that has ten times the amount of backlinks, 5 years older, 20 times more indexed pages, yet some smaller guy outranks them. Most of the time the smaller guy has more relevant, and higher amounts of high PR backlinks.

    Hope that helps!

I normally get this the other way round where my Yahoo rankings are lower than my Google rankings. Probably because I'm obsessed with the big G and have tunnel vision.

    It's so super normal dude.

That's why no one's bothering to rank in Yahoo or MSN because the traffic from them are freaking low compared to Google. So of course it's super harder to rank in Google than any other search engines.

But hey, here is one good idea.

Why don't you come up with an ebook "Watch me RANK No 1 SPOT IN Yahoo in 24 hours!" Haha, that would be great. And don't forget to share in the download section.

Well, Yahoo's algorithm differs a lot from Google's algorithm.

I'm 3rd from 300,000,000 competitors in Yahoo but on Google not on the first 20 pages

The thing is, Yahoo gives a lot of authority to edu/gov/ backlinks so we should find the secret formula of Google as well :)

I've tested it with one of my sites, did a completely new site, kept track of what I did (basically manually commenting on do-follow / high pr / edu/gov/ sites and on Yahoo I was ranking quite high

@ozzy -- i have essentially the exact same experience with yahoo. I have a month old site ranked on the first page of a reasonably high competition keyword with just a handful of .edu backlinks and nothing else. I'm no where to be found on google or bing. That being said, I'm rather unimpressed with the traffic I'm receiving...

While I am making decent money from the site in question, there is no doubt I would be receiving more if I had traffic from Google as well as Yahoo...

I guess just keep link building and stuff, and pray for the best! :)

Well every search engine uses different algorithms when ranking the search results. In my case I rank 2nd on G for my all my keywords, while on Yahoo I am around 20 and Bing on 10, not that I am complaining :) You should probably try something different from what you are doing right now to rank in G

I'm in the same situation, I rank on Yahoo 5th, and Bing 8th, for google with the same keyword I rank 370. And it really sucks because Bing / Yahoo don't give too much traffic.

I had a site that made $2,000/month a year ago with just yahoo traffic (its dead now). None the less, yahoo is a viable means of profitable traffic.

I think that yahoo just likes to see a crap load of links no matter where they are from.
