Basically it costs $5 and 5 - 20 minutes of your time or about 45 minutes of your time and you keep the $5.

First go to fiverr get a press release done optimized for your keywords or business/site. Or write your own.

Second step submit your press release to http://www.i-newswire.com/ (it's free).

    Tutorial over.

That will work most of the time.

Now really I use PressBot or something that submits to multiple press release sites. Then on the sites that it fails on (PressBot), which is most I have a Roboform profile for those sites and I submit to them manually (it takes about 10 - 20 minutes). Make sure you submit to i-newswire even if you skip the other one's. You will find that the i-newswire release will be the one that shows on the first page of google pretty much every time. I believe that the other sites just show google that the press release is real so it ranks your release higher.

In i-newswire make sure you setup the link to your site in the profile page so even if you ******** up on the release your backlink will still show up in the press release.

I do this once a week to one of my money sites and not only do I get tons of backlinks, I get traffic and good conversions on sales. When my press releases hit I make an extra few hundred bucks on the day it hits.

You might only last a few hours on the first page, but you'll be on the first page of google news for potentially several days.

I figure for $5 and 20 minutes of my time it's worth it.

I found them good too. Do you backlink to it and if so does that keep it longer in either the regular google or google news?

I don't do anything besides submitting them. I usually build backlinks to backlinks, but for press releases I'll admit I've been lazy and just letting them go as is with no interference from my end.

Use your main keyword as the first part of your title. That will be key to getting it ranked high.

I've also heard the way the google news results stay up for longer is if there are a lot of clicks. I don't really worry about the fancy stuff, I just submit and it works. I've noticed my shittier press releases don't last very long on the first page and sometimes I don't even see them. With a decent press release usually it's up for at least a few hours in the day, which is enough to make me money.

This isn't a new ground breaking tactic, but it still works which is the main thing. First page with under 20 minutes of work.

Not at all. I submit the same shit everywhere. When I do manual submissions sometimes I'll change up the summary, and some times I'll change a little bit of the text to be able to successfully submit, but I don't spin. My changes (if any) are very minimal if at all. Think about it. A news story shows up everywhere exactly the same, there is no reason to spin.

    Thanked your post.

I've tried submitting press releases about 6-7 times without success. Is there a trick to targeting a keyword or phrase? Out of the press releases I've submitted, non have made it to Google News, and definitely not the first page of the search results.

Are you targeting general terms (ex: "car insurance"), popular news stories, or long tail niche keywords? This is the part I've never really been able to grasp. I'd love to add press releases to my daily "to do" since everyone claims that they can drive a TON of traffic in a short amount of time.

    Nice method!

Have you found that it is important to submit them to the other press release sites or does it work to appear on the top of google for the keyword just by submitting it to that first one?

First make sure the title of your press release has your keyword or keyword phrase at the beginning of the title. Ex. Car Insurance Is Now Cheaper than Ever (is the title).

Than make sure the press release makes some sense and is semi-decent. You'll find that press releases that look like they were created by a spinning program don't get great results, but if it's human readable you will get on the news page and most of the time the first page.

I go straight to the root keyword phrase, but I'm not in a niche anywhere near as competitive as car insurance. Give it a shot, but make sure your press release is decent. Add the keyword a few times within the press release also and also variations (remember google uses LSI).

Try to have the press release as non-spammy as you can make it while mentioning your site. That way the individual sites won't deny it.

I don't ever submit to just one site. If I think the press release sucks I just use the sites on PressBot. If I think the press release is decent I use PressBot, then manually submit to the one's it fails on (and of course I make sure I submit to i-newswire). I also had a first page result a few days ago from pr-usa.net so that's another good one to submit to.

Great thread, I agree with the OP, you must optimize your PR like with anything web related for it to gather the type of exposure that will trigger multiple sales.

Optimization is the secret ingredient, and unbot like type of PR's will also get the attention your looking for.

Anyone care to get a list of the top PR sites going, well not just the top but the most successful ones.

Revis, get a professional PR writer to do your PR for you and once you get the hang of it, then start doing them yourself. You must have the correct format, keywords, bio etc. etc for it to seem legit.

I've actually written a little over 200 articles over the past year, so I know (think) I'm a decent writer. :) I've got article marketing down to a science. I do know that PR marketing is a totally different beast, and I do understand the differences between a standard article and a press release.

It seems that I'm targeting the wrong keywords. I'm noticing that if there's not already news results on the first page of Google for my keyword or phrase, chances are my PR will never make it to the first page either. Do some long tail searches and you'll see what I mean. Anyone else notice this?

Guess I'll have to go after some broader terms that are already displaying results.

You are 100% correct. Although you might be able to force the News section to pop up to the first page, why bother? You can't always force a video, or local results or news results. The easiest way to get them is to find a keyword set that already has the results live on the first page. I've also found News results (as well as videos) on the 2nd and 3rd pages of searches.

Yeah you could research your keywords more or even create keyword groups. With you understanding the concept of a press release, you are really talking about your product in third person. Your product doesn't have to have searched for keywords for you to rank well, your press release has to look like a press release and not a product review/ad.

Press release is really intermediate marketing type of stuff, people who are great at writing articles always think writing a press release is a cinch, but like you mentioned it's apples to oranges two totally different entity's. While almost all article directories will accept an article to add to it's database, Worthy press release sites are more strict on what they will allow, pay or no pay.

I tried this strategy. My news release was accepted by i-newswire.com 2 days ago.
till now, no results. I didn't get any traffic and I didn't had any sale :(
