    i run a pc with xp sp1 - this is for scanning proxies
    i can not update to sp2 or scanning proxies is blocked

    as my current firewall mcaffee is about to stop supporting
    xp/sp1.... anyone no of a fire wall that works on this

    xp / sp1 .......

    if you are using the PC just for proxy scanning why you need a firewall at all? It just slow things down..

    patching opens 50 connections
    i scan on sp1 at 3500 threads
    wouldnt work

    If it is behind a NAT (i.e. connected to the home router), just disable the router 's UPnP feature through its web interface. This way it is impossible for anyone to connect to your PC (inbound) and there is no need for a firewall. The downside is that you have to open up any inbound ports you might need manually (that 's what UPnP does automatically).

    shade i cant scan for proxies via router doesnt work here cuts out
    i have to go via direct into the modem

    and the f/wall has to be xp / sp1 min req
