The release candidates have been out for a few weeks. Pretty awesome stuff. Big speed and stability increases on OS X, at least anecdotally.

What you mean? I'm running it right now on XP and it is outperforming the last version in both speed and efficiency. For some reason old FF was crashing a lot due to my system specs, really irritating, but FF3 is doin great so far.

Yeah, I was having those same stability issues with the older issues on OS X. I installed the first FireFox 3 RC nearly a month ago and I've had only 1 or 2 crashes since.

I almost forgot that. When I upgraded to 3 it did not export the bookmarks. I also had trouble getting my cracked robo*form to work correctly in 3 so I just went back to 2.

No problem, Thanks to your information I was able to get the downloads in time. (Although at first time not from the main site, hence for a couple of hours servers were overloaded).

For who has no patience to wait for download page to be easily accessible, here are two links:

Well FF3 sprints like shit off a shovel compared with FF2, and so far, has yet to hang - which is a nice change.

I'm short a few plug-ins yet to be updated for compatibility but I expect that to rectify promptly - because the world is gonna FLOCK to FF3. This release is gonna be the browser benchmark....

Somebody commented "don't forget to save your bookmarks". Sound advice but it gave me pause to reflect. FF integrates so conveniently with Delicious that I find I'm hardly bothering with local bookmarks much any more.

Instead I run a private Delicious in addition to my public bookmarks. That way I get tagging and search tools which let me bookmark on the run without agonizing how to title or file the reference. And it's just one click to convert a private bookmark to public if I'm feeling generous.

Re the FF3 release time quoted in PDT instead of UTC.

That seems a minor social gaffe compared with invading places to take their oil (which does pose a major sensitivity training challenge!). BTW that is not an anti-US remark; my own country is also deeply implicated in the crime and we have the bereaved to prove it.

Parochialism is understandable and inevitable in a country where 10% of the population has never traveled more than 100 miles from home and 50% have never flown. Those stats are a little out of date now but still make sober reading. And they go a long way to explaining the empathy gap re longitude.

So let those guys at PDT enjoy their afternoon in the sun while it lasts.
    They earned it.

Having said that, I do wish they would stop phoning me at 0300 UTC.
My wife gets really irate and takes it out on me all next day.........

Am loving it. The bookmarking is super awesome. But my theme had better be updated soon it has become part of my soul after using it for probably 4 years plus.

Most of my addons worked fine. Just had to go back to the addon site and redownload them and everything worked fine.

Way happier with ff3 now that its finally out :)
