For a brand new site I wouldn’t rely too much on the KD number in a tool. Check whether you can actually match the intent and page type Google is already rewarding, and look for SERPs where smaller sites or clearly weaker pages are getting visibility
Once the site starts getting some impressions, GSC becomes really useful for the next round. Check which queries Google is already testing your pages for, especially ones where you’re getting impressions but still sitting too low for clicks. Those terms can give you a much better direction for what to improve or expand next

For a new site, I usually look for keywords where the search intent is clear but the existing results aren’t too strong. Long-tail variations can be a good starting point before targeting broader terms.

imo, for a new site go straight after long-tail keywords rather than chasing broad terms with a low KD score.with clear intent and manually check with SERP that’s often a good opportunity for site to pick up its first traffic.

One thing I look for is a gap in the current search results. If the ranking pages are missing important information or do not fully satisfy the query, a new site can compete by covering that gap better.

i just filter for KD under 10 and volume under 100, boring keywords but new sites can actually rank for them fast
it is better to begin with the questions that are posed around the topic, bcz they are less competitive. then, u should find out whether u can provide a better solution than the sites occupying leading positions. in the case of launching a new website, targeting several specific queries is more benefficial than choosing a keyword.

We find low competition keywords by checking long tail terms, SERP competition, search intent, and weak-ranking competitors. Then we target keywords where new sites have a realistic chance to reach page 1.

Thanks for sharing. I hadn't thought about checking competitor keywords in positions 20–50. This seems like a useful way to find opportunities for a new website. I’ll definitely try this approach.
