Yeah, and i understanded you want to do on-site seo with UNF, no offence lol.Well never mind on that.
Well jay tools you the tools.Other than that if you want to do it manually to be sure use:
Semrush for top 10 organic competition
    MajesticSEO for intitle competition
seoranksmart tools for bulk pr check
    ahrefs for competitors link strength
I always check these as they give accurate data.Oh and you also need to understand the metrics :).
    Hope it helps

    Maybe moz.com keyword competitive tool.

If the keyword competition is less than 45 then its easier to rank IMO.

I don't do much research now as I try to outsource it now but earlier when I was doing it, I used combo of UNF and MS.

Used UNF to find good keywords w.r.t. search amount,EMD,etc and then use MS to analyze competition for a keyword.

I use UNF to research on keywords + analyze competition and then I check the top 10 competition manually with MS

despite the fact that the OP was rude and snobbish, i found the post most informative...just one question....i know MS can be used for free for 40 days...do the other software have trials that I can use for free initially???

I found UNF and Niche cracker on the same period and I like Niche cracker more than UNF but there was a problem recently with NC they stopped supporting the software until they comes with next version of it and both are very good tools.
