Note: I will try to update this thread with new niches, so feel free to bookmark and check the latest posts to keep yourself updated with new lesser known but still profitable niches.

Google Trends is the best free tool to help you understand what the world is searching for at any moment. It can give you niche ideas, keyword ideas, content ideas, and more. It’s one of my favorite free market research tools, so let's jump in.

First, you start by going tohttp://trends.google.com/. Now, I’m going to use this as a research tool, but if you have a newsletter where you're constantly putting out the hottest topics and breaking news, go under the "Trending Now" section. It’s got the latest searches from the past day, or you can even break it down to the past 24 hours. This will show you what the most-searched phrases and topics are in a very short period of time.

AD_4nXdH2e6tjIJtnlOAe222Ulw1pZcHdRBH6WkmW7X-3hUVhhuIMSW4JeQ_7Hz7lQvVhBBqB5qZ3eyIlsgqeiWrgFA6ypWNOSkWEf-bgTyDMNTvT7M9oH3WKBaKpSWRQUDGaQIglJU2QuzTrdLbzseSl00CCYiK

But for now, let's see how we can check a niche stat in Google trends and find out if it's worth our time and money or not. In the homepage, enter a keyword or a niche idea in the main search bar. Let’s start with "vegan diet". You can see that it gives two options:
"vegan diet" as a search term
"vegan diets" as a topic.

Personally, I focus on the search terms first:

AD_4nXfuKLuGjiHlDpWUVN5AM25fpkrWgV1mx02DclfxXsXs8jAhlEfiK7bFWhSAUrkDmjopoMWVxtvcFd1J4AQDPoEGonnP77aUKyGaANAYZ2j4DvvYz_0fgLQXKYk468pCh6u-q39VU2514bTiohDspygi9ghO

I use a US VPN and that's why the country is set to the United States by default, however, you can change it to worldwide or your local geo. It also defaults to show data from the past day, so the graph shows a 24-hour trend. I prefer a longer-term view, so I choose past 5 years for my research.

Here you can see clearly that over the last five years, interest in veganism has been declining, with a few spikes here and there:

AD_4nXdlW2v6p76DfSy0Z7HHYl0TdFHtgYo_k06kv4_wS_C7uY__JnG8QZp4rTIrAW75xHNj1YrTbPhRil9oUF5cd3QCjWxp7sudy-mLrWxwjScXesh1LJAzM_85YrcSi9JmKBLLPJFdsA4nPotRbcy3NnXJHnA

I’ll explain how to read and interpret this data in a moment, but first, let me show you more information available to you that can help you find a good niche. When you scroll down the page, you can see that countries with the most interest in this topic are: UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand are the top four, while the US is in the number five:

AD_4nXctO4PZgRXuvASBbWMnBZooFtspqZuzFF3kSLX8OpV9gkykUqKW5mDhkldFcaJaqpU7QdjvKPCsw9cDCvtuhCYb2ZR6WMylQWSTBYGrUT-eABdFkktQl8FSgtKiKeZEiyN6cP3E76FxM5l9f9-l0Mfrfx5L

Below that, you get related topics and related queries. Related topics are useful for creating products or doing niche-down. For example, "raw veganism" is a breakout topic, showing that people interested in veganism are also interested in raw veganism. This could help you create a mini-course, e-class, e-book, cookbook, and so on. This is how you can get product ideas.

AD_4nXdp2QcOqFsiDgAORIqJbszD2z1VE8Zz2nu84IlMq1kAnEbUp2rUSkO_ZHghlEJRwQqLVr_PJ7P5ER0DP2knkSmV2IdLU4Eula3ZePupq2dRXP1Lui-6c-vj6lLUJ1vCcIAr7ozVjbtEeXTbNC2mHWn-iB4

On the related query side, these are actual keyword phrases that people are searching for. You can make blog posts or videos on these topics. For example, "why do people fail on a vegan diet while others succeed?" This could be a clever, creative idea that would absolutely get clicks. It would get attention on Facebook, YouTube, and Pinterest. These are the types of topics you could create long-form content around and get traffic for that.

AD_4nXdc_6w-WI7TUmqRUFB-jRWxe2kh-0IVzD8jSQLOl-sfEC2MiVh7R9EB_oSS3klA5OjeaLlqNl-T5s_43OJfKWcXftqdEuT2LLo2bOsVFV1h234YUb8Gop44yEbtNlg_JWxOn-sjUeKItU_Npo9x

However, the real power of Google Trends is in comparing different options and ideas to see what your marketplace values most. Let’s add "carnivore diet" as a comparison to the "vegan diet" These two diets could not be more different, and you can see that while veganism has been trending down, the carnivore diet has been trending up over the last five years.

AD_4nXfUhuk1VvWgG2dZWBUMV7xqmcuhnG98vq_h_ocdWfyoJ-RDSpkbmz8knPHTsXE0MmwbZ95hUgIfeKdRt2u-Rw2DwnpfPvy9399XxnbEO9-HNgQHG22l6JSO6LedpS0PPFfLDM9rbwCOn0ppyg44_R79YCI

If I were creating a health-based brand or a weight-loss boot camp, this graph would show me which topics are growing in popularity and which are declining. This information helps ensure that the content I create today, whether it’s blog posts or YouTube videos, will still be relevant in the future.

Let’s add a third comparison: the "keto diet" This graph shows how big of a trend the keto diet was back in 2019.

AD_4nXcUOxfTWvwdgInc3-Adx74Kq1RXkxO6jFuTWZAojIDKtFiSRENC1yUT8p9OiNsOtRh2wDMF8Yst6_9DQrYSKALWWVwHQwB1pa9JYM40hkKBHsiyAHO_QWMXh8pKktI21B3a7n9jJJGo1ngjp7pD0VXWGLW_

Now, let's talk about reading the data. The graphs with three colors (yellow, red and blue) show interest in the searched keyword/topic over time.

The 100 mark represents the highest point of search interest. In early March 2019, more people searched for "keto diet" than any of the other phrases in the past five years.

AD_4nXdf2NJUZi5fLV3knXdm4LMPNb9tXxTx8YWEsMDuK1yuqnnOuW-v_Hkaf16EvdqTcYBTuUCV6IC5jqtNBNf5AsqagNKrovh-HAMA27rUyun4lXvkxVWgihzSs54Ard8MsnUV8oJ8Mq0jfDyC0e0CMyCNTTpZ

Now lets back to the two main search terms we have started with:
  • vegan diet
  • carnivore diet
Looking at the graph now, you can see that the highest search interest for the "carnivore diet" was around December 31st to January 6th, indicating that people make New Year’s resolutions around this time. In January 2024, more than double the number of people searched for the "carnivore diet" compared to the "vegan diet." This is one powerful way to know what’s trending.

AD_4nXe4nMmzIMj6UvR1OQcLriLkQr3rAB3MXvr_SSswgrVRHu2uKAEhpA1ZQrNpvzVjQVf0xkqSh6e3R-FwwjHAGWj2X9XTZ1Ov5v6rBNnBzi77jiC1IxRjgKLMpdaq9KwpZ8XGU3-du_s8bceOEO5vNS9O0sfv

Let’s do another example. Let’s add "HIIT workout" and "bodyweight workout."

AD_4nXeNhli6KJkt7vClON0bFc3Fhy-TjQJsmZXCEDVIq1NTGW9dE6bOiraUO0J2JSV9CSxsk1BUJixfrsoGRv300Y8YpEOmwNwYNHWiO2x-0wh50JCnt_ABLYgbi27Th034X4-Do4pxbsiw6yGr5CjojSuWQFEw

If I were building a weight-loss brand, I’d need to figure out which workout routines to recommend. You can see from the graph that "HIIT workout" is searched more often because its line is higher. You can also change your location to see region-specific data.

Scrolling down, you can find related topics and queries.

AD_4nXd3CqM8pic0gPz4iHaS53DEl9Mwggvdu4hX6Jbc4CNFGQsRWXIgxkmMQIIYPN4S0eHUqFHV26H-ME_dg6qnTRspsqVw7vvPRkJcJhXzfFcXuWVBaqzd27OksOTC1UJktDE0yjWpV-8HK_LqvqFTVWcNLrQl

For instance, “madfit hiit workout” is a query. If I were looking for affiliate marketing partners, I might look into people like madfit hiit workout, who have products and courses I could recommend.

You can also compare markets to see which one deserves more attention. Let’s search "Bitcoin" In early February 2024, Bitcoin was priced at about $50k, slightly below all-time highs, but the search volume is nowhere near its peak. This sentiment graph shows interest over time, and comparing this to price action could give insight into market trends.

AD_4nXeBQi7fbkzMqoSFtJTLA0ynMHmULVjybf6w3LE2WNZjd2bgGm41Q8iyMK7-O4H_SXQ1VscXAsq9d0HxUFor8O1CDu8hvAKfFhvnaPXkke-1MZ5hR55SGEANvWo_P5hhgB8ONdx88SAuBnzn2HAkbH425OvF

Adding "Ethereum" and "Solana" to the graph shows that Bitcoin dominates search interest compared to other cryptocurrencies. Ethereum and Solana barely register, while Bitcoin takes all the search data. Switching the graph to worldwide still shows the same trend.

AD_4nXcHIP4iK3OkKeRy6diDnusWnaMldOftwFe13JJX48aUFMuP0PD9hgNptK6UdgGnvMkAM53y063x_78QGl_3Pdirc1040FyUFT9AcsAc3wEJMtqlfRv6WJwOVih4Lonv4Miww050ZW7eiJ0hB07dKhMLGeBQ

If we zoom in on the past 12 months, we can see that there was a point in late 2023 when "Solana" had a higher search volume than "Ethereum." This is valuable insight, showing shifts in interest that might not be obvious from just looking at crypto Twitter. As interest in a specific cryptocurrency increases, theoretically, more people may purchase it, driving demand.

Niche: 100 Days of School

I bet you have never think of this as an affiliate niche opportunity but let me explain how this can be very profit. In United States (+ some other countries) it's a day that is celebrated when students are more than halfway through the school year and it's a perfect opportunity to take advantage of. The 100 days of school has been used by some affiliates to promote educational materials, resources and decorations to targeted group like parents, students and teachers.
In addition to that, you, as an affiliate, can promote e-books, digital lessons or even physical products from Amazon and Etsy to targeted group of people. This even repeats every year, so you can start today, build a niche site based on that and when it's time, you can get many traffic from people who are looking for similar products.

As of 2024, there are an estimated 1.86 billion PC gamers worldwide and that’s why this industry is booming which turned it into a goldmine for affiliate marketers. Because of this, many gamers are willing to invest in high-quality accessories for having a better gaming experience and that’s exactly where you can take advantage of.
Some products you can promote are: e-keywords, pro headsets, gaming chairs, customizable controllers and monitors, etc.

When you mix these lesser-known yet profitable niches with Google trends data and your marketing skills, you can find a profitable niche and build a successful profitable business based on that.

If you liked the thread, don’t forget to bookmark since I’m going to update it with new less-known niches.

Google Trends is the best free tool to help you understand what the world is searching for at any moment. It can give you niche ideas, keyword ideas, content ideas, and more. It’s one of my favorite free market research tools, so let's jump in.

First, you start by going to trends.google.com. Now, I’m going to use this as a research tool, but if you have a newsletter where you're constantly putting out the hottest topics and breaking news, go under the "Trending Now" section. It’s got the latest searches from the past day, or you can even break it down to the past 24 hours. This will show you what the most-searched phrases and topics are in a very short period of time.

AD_4nXdH2e6tjIJtnlOAe222Ulw1pZcHdRBH6WkmW7X-3hUVhhuIMSW4JeQ_7Hz7lQvVhBBqB5qZ3eyIlsgqeiWrgFA6ypWNOSkWEf-bgTyDMNTvT7M9oH3WKBaKpSWRQUDGaQIglJU2QuzTrdLbzseSl00CCYiK

But for now, let's see how we can check a niche stat in Google trends and find out if it's worth our time and money or not. In the homepage, enter a keyword or a niche idea in the main search bar. Let’s start with "vegan diet". You can see that it gives two options:
"vegan diet" as a search term
"vegan diets" as a topic.

Personally, I focus on the search terms first:

AD_4nXfuKLuGjiHlDpWUVN5AM25fpkrWgV1mx02DclfxXsXs8jAhlEfiK7bFWhSAUrkDmjopoMWVxtvcFd1J4AQDPoEGonnP77aUKyGaANAYZ2j4DvvYz_0fgLQXKYk468pCh6u-q39VU2514bTiohDspygi9ghO

I use a US VPN and that's why the country is set to the United States by default, however, you can change it to worldwide or your local geo. It also defaults to show data from the past day, so the graph shows a 24-hour trend. I prefer a longer-term view, so I choose past 5 years for my research.

Here you can see clearly that over the last five years, interest in veganism has been declining, with a few spikes here and there:

AD_4nXdlW2v6p76DfSy0Z7HHYl0TdFHtgYo_k06kv4_wS_C7uY__JnG8QZp4rTIrAW75xHNj1YrTbPhRil9oUF5cd3QCjWxp7sudy-mLrWxwjScXesh1LJAzM_85YrcSi9JmKBLLPJFdsA4nPotRbcy3NnXJHnA

I’ll explain how to read and interpret this data in a moment, but first, let me show you more information available to you that can help you find a good niche. When you scroll down the page, you can see that countries with the most interest in this topic are: UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand are the top four, while the US is in the number five:

AD_4nXctO4PZgRXuvASBbWMnBZooFtspqZuzFF3kSLX8OpV9gkykUqKW5mDhkldFcaJaqpU7QdjvKPCsw9cDCvtuhCYb2ZR6WMylQWSTBYGrUT-eABdFkktQl8FSgtKiKeZEiyN6cP3E76FxM5l9f9-l0Mfrfx5L

Below that, you get related topics and related queries. Related topics are useful for creating products or doing niche-down. For example, "raw veganism" is a breakout topic, showing that people interested in veganism are also interested in raw veganism. This could help you create a mini-course, e-class, e-book, cookbook, and so on. This is how you can get product ideas.

AD_4nXdp2QcOqFsiDgAORIqJbszD2z1VE8Zz2nu84IlMq1kAnEbUp2rUSkO_ZHghlEJRwQqLVr_PJ7P5ER0DP2knkSmV2IdLU4Eula3ZePupq2dRXP1Lui-6c-vj6lLUJ1vCcIAr7ozVjbtEeXTbNC2mHWn-iB4

On the related query side, these are actual keyword phrases that people are searching for. You can make blog posts or videos on these topics. For example, "why do people fail on a vegan diet while others succeed?" This could be a clever, creative idea that would absolutely get clicks. It would get attention on Facebook, YouTube, and Pinterest. These are the types of topics you could create long-form content around and get traffic for that.

AD_4nXdc_6w-WI7TUmqRUFB-jRWxe2kh-0IVzD8jSQLOl-sfEC2MiVh7R9EB_oSS3klA5OjeaLlqNl-T5s_43OJfKWcXftqdEuT2LLo2bOsVFV1h234YUb8Gop44yEbtNlg_JWxOn-sjUeKItU_Npo9x

However, the real power of Google Trends is in comparing different options and ideas to see what your marketplace values most. Let’s add "carnivore diet" as a comparison to the "vegan diet" These two diets could not be more different, and you can see that while veganism has been trending down, the carnivore diet has been trending up over the last five years.

AD_4nXfUhuk1VvWgG2dZWBUMV7xqmcuhnG98vq_h_ocdWfyoJ-RDSpkbmz8knPHTsXE0MmwbZ95hUgIfeKdRt2u-Rw2DwnpfPvy9399XxnbEO9-HNgQHG22l6JSO6LedpS0PPFfLDM9rbwCOn0ppyg44_R79YCI

If I were creating a health-based brand or a weight-loss boot camp, this graph would show me which topics are growing in popularity and which are declining. This information helps ensure that the content I create today, whether it’s blog posts or YouTube videos, will still be relevant in the future.

Let’s add a third comparison: the "keto diet" This graph shows how big of a trend the keto diet was back in 2019.

AD_4nXcUOxfTWvwdgInc3-Adx74Kq1RXkxO6jFuTWZAojIDKtFiSRENC1yUT8p9OiNsOtRh2wDMF8Yst6_9DQrYSKALWWVwHQwB1pa9JYM40hkKBHsiyAHO_QWMXh8pKktI21B3a7n9jJJGo1ngjp7pD0VXWGLW_

Now, let's talk about reading the data. The graphs with three colors (yellow, red and blue) show interest in the searched keyword/topic over time.

The 100 mark represents the highest point of search interest. In early March 2019, more people searched for "keto diet" than any of the other phrases in the past five years.

AD_4nXdf2NJUZi5fLV3knXdm4LMPNb9tXxTx8YWEsMDuK1yuqnnOuW-v_Hkaf16EvdqTcYBTuUCV6IC5jqtNBNf5AsqagNKrovh-HAMA27rUyun4lXvkxVWgihzSs54Ard8MsnUV8oJ8Mq0jfDyC0e0CMyCNTTpZ

Now lets back to the two main search terms we have started with:
  • vegan diet
  • carnivore diet
Looking at the graph now, you can see that the highest search interest for the "carnivore diet" was around December 31st to January 6th, indicating that people make New Year’s resolutions around this time. In January 2024, more than double the number of people searched for the "carnivore diet" compared to the "vegan diet." This is one powerful way to know what’s trending.

AD_4nXe4nMmzIMj6UvR1OQcLriLkQr3rAB3MXvr_SSswgrVRHu2uKAEhpA1ZQrNpvzVjQVf0xkqSh6e3R-FwwjHAGWj2X9XTZ1Ov5v6rBNnBzi77jiC1IxRjgKLMpdaq9KwpZ8XGU3-du_s8bceOEO5vNS9O0sfv

Let’s do another example. Let’s add "HIIT workout" and "bodyweight workout."

AD_4nXeNhli6KJkt7vClON0bFc3Fhy-TjQJsmZXCEDVIq1NTGW9dE6bOiraUO0J2JSV9CSxsk1BUJixfrsoGRv300Y8YpEOmwNwYNHWiO2x-0wh50JCnt_ABLYgbi27Th034X4-Do4pxbsiw6yGr5CjojSuWQFEw

If I were building a weight-loss brand, I’d need to figure out which workout routines to recommend. You can see from the graph that "HIIT workout" is searched more often because its line is higher. You can also change your location to see region-specific data.

Scrolling down, you can find related topics and queries.

AD_4nXd3CqM8pic0gPz4iHaS53DEl9Mwggvdu4hX6Jbc4CNFGQsRWXIgxkmMQIIYPN4S0eHUqFHV26H-ME_dg6qnTRspsqVw7vvPRkJcJhXzfFcXuWVBaqzd27OksOTC1UJktDE0yjWpV-8HK_LqvqFTVWcNLrQl

For instance, “madfit hiit workout” is a query. If I were looking for affiliate marketing partners, I might look into people like madfit hiit workout, who have products and courses I could recommend.

You can also compare markets to see which one deserves more attention. Let’s search "Bitcoin" In early February 2024, Bitcoin was priced at about $50k, slightly below all-time highs, but the search volume is nowhere near its peak. This sentiment graph shows interest over time, and comparing this to price action could give insight into market trends.

AD_4nXeBQi7fbkzMqoSFtJTLA0ynMHmULVjybf6w3LE2WNZjd2bgGm41Q8iyMK7-O4H_SXQ1VscXAsq9d0HxUFor8O1CDu8hvAKfFhvnaPXkke-1MZ5hR55SGEANvWo_P5hhgB8ONdx88SAuBnzn2HAkbH425OvF

Adding "Ethereum" and "Solana" to the graph shows that Bitcoin dominates search interest compared to other cryptocurrencies. Ethereum and Solana barely register, while Bitcoin takes all the search data. Switching the graph to worldwide still shows the same trend.

AD_4nXcHIP4iK3OkKeRy6diDnusWnaMldOftwFe13JJX48aUFMuP0PD9hgNptK6UdgGnvMkAM53y063x_78QGl_3Pdirc1040FyUFT9AcsAc3wEJMtqlfRv6WJwOVih4Lonv4Miww050ZW7eiJ0hB07dKhMLGeBQ

If we zoom in on the past 12 months, we can see that there was a point in late 2023 when "Solana" had a higher search volume than "Ethereum." This is valuable insight, showing shifts in interest that might not be obvious from just looking at crypto Twitter. As interest in a specific cryptocurrency increases, theoretically, more people may purchase it, driving demand.

Niche Recommend: Baby Lotion

This niche can be profitable for affiliate marketer because there are "always" caregivers and parents who are looking for this type of products, so there's always a demand for that. Also, since these products have bought frequently by parents, they have higher customer lifetime value compared to other similar products.

As you can see below, the competition is not high in this niche and by getting backlink from ~12 similar niche sites, you will have good chance to rank in the first page of Google.

1729579250089.png

Google trends also shows a constant demand without any drop for the "Baby Lotion" search term in the last 12 months. This means, with a proper research and targeting long-tail keywords, that would not be too difficult to rank in the top-10 result.

To find related affiliate program/product for this niche, you can search "Baby Lotion + affiliate program" in Google to have access to a wide range of relevant affiliate programs.

Good luck and feel free to ask if you have any questions,

Do I missing something? Checked in google keyword planner the keywords; six figure, seven figure- low to zero search volume, what the heck is going on? Only the term high ticket marketing has decent search volume, how can that be? So many marketing agencies and consultants out there in the web space, do they not get traffic? Better I try to check some marketing agencies /consulting sites to see how much traffic they get.

Your thoughts?

Hey mate,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Please note that what are shared here are not "keywords ideas" where you can get specific amount of traffic when you are checking them on Google keyword planner. They are "niche ideas" which means they have much less competition compared to well-known and high competition niches like smartphones, tech, make money online, etc. What you are looking for (keyword research) is another story that needs to be addresses in another separate thread. What you can do is using the shared niche ideas here to find "relevant" keywords on keyword planner to build a niche site for that idea. That's what I'm trying to do here. : )

Thanks for that tip! So better I type in adwords keyword planner
the example: baby lotion, then der what will come up.

Then another example would be;
Type in marketing, better digital marketing then see more narrow down keywords , I hope this is the better way?

Yes, that's exactly the right way for using these niche ideas to find the right keywords. Another thing you can do is that after searching for your niche idea in Google kw planner, sort the keywords based on competition then make a list of only low competition keywords and start building a niche site with full of content based on that low competition keyword list. Mix this with getting back-links from some high DA relevant sites and you will guarantee your high rank in Google. ;)
