Find it Keep it - My first idea for BHW

This is going to be my first time I can give back to BHW. I hope someone actually makes this happen and I know if I had the funds and time I would do it in a heartbeat. I know this is only an IDEA but I am sure it could go viral if promoted and done correctly.

Ok so here it goes. Oh and I hope this is in the right section..OP please don't ban if it is. I wasn't sure where to put it. But it has to do with trying to make money so..

Anyways I have learned a lot from BHW and I know I will continue to do so.

Basically I thought of the idea from something I saw on FB today from Red Bull. THey have this thing saying that they stashed a bunch of their energy shot drinks around cities in the US. So when you follow the clues you can find them and keep them. I don't actually think they have the product just laying around waiting..but instead they have a coupon that you enter on the site to claim your prize and they send you them.

I know Red B*ll has millions of people that like their product already..but they have 1.5 mil fans on their page on FB and it's going bigger everyday.


So what if you set up a FB app or just a web site that is similar to this set up.

So how do you make this your own and make money from it?
Well here are some ideas

You all know traffic = $$

This would only work if it went viral quickly. But if you advertise on social sites it probably would without to much work. People would jump at the chance to get free stuff and searching for it.

What you would probably need to do this. A few people around the country who will work with you on setting up the searches and laying the clues/hints.

Instead of giving away energy shots you would do things like an ipod or something like that..something everyone would like and knows about.

You could monetize this a few ways.

CPAl**ds - so they have to fill out offers to get the clues.
adsense - traffic = $
email opt in - cpa offers

You would have to buy the products as an upfront cost but i would think you could make a lot more from this type of idea. I bet someone can put a twist on it too.

you gotta get pretty damn lucky for something to go viral... unless you get quite A LOT of people buzzing about it... or spending fortunes on PPC

i think maybe u could purchase workers from mturk.com shorttask etc and pay them pennies to post on their fb/twitter/etc

Well through facebook and twitter I think something like this would work out and spread quickly. Also could post some articles about it around the digg, ezine etc..

Solid idea with enough FaceBook accounts and some YouTube promotion. Also, people, is it really that hard to press the thanks button? Do they really cost you that much more energy?

Heres a way to possibly do this and get quite a few views on your videos. On your site place an entry stating that you will be hiding clues in your videos to try and find out what the grand prize is. Say you are setting up a video course on iguana care...

Before the video starts place a few clues about the prize(say a custom cage) throughout the video. One may be a cardboard cutout of the word custom in your iguanas favorite basking spot or place a watermark of another clue over the body of your iguana when editing the video Then at the end suggest they stay tuned for the next video in the series to get another set of clues You get the idea.

Hope someone tries this but it is something I just kind of thought of and didn't think all the way through.

Just be careful when you plant items around a city in an effort to create nationwide buzz...
