It will most diffidently be boring to most of you, but gardening makes me extremely happy! Even though i must do it to live, i don't see it as a "chore".. During the winter months, i cant wait to get back to gardening, It's just one of those things that i really love and passionate about. Any lengthy down time just kills me!

Anyone else into gardening?

The neighbours are complaining about it.

Congratulations!

hey Gardener, all the best in your journey :)

Sheeeit, if you stop gardening during the winter, you be just a lvl 2 gardener, dawg. Get those winter bulbs in the ground, what are you thinking slacking off?!

And step your greenhouse and in-house game up. Dang. Feelin' so fly eye'in dem vines reach da sky. Dang hot fire.

No i'm not. I have a little 20' x 16' spot that i grow a few things to help with the itch, but all the fields will get planted with ground cover at the end of the season. I'll either plant clover, barley, oats, rye, Austrian winter peas, and what the deer and other wildlife doesn't eat, the rest gets plowed under the following year unless i want to harvest some of the oats and barley. I have a small green house that is used to start seeds.

Everything you have mentioned is unnecessary work if your able to produce enough food during the spring, summer and fall to last an entire calendar year. Some years i don't even plant in the fall because i'm stocked to the gills. In February or late January i'll go through what we have a lot of, and what we need more of and i'll build a list of what i'll plant that season...

Whats wrong with it? Why would they complain? Can you get a soil testing kit and test the soil yourself or can you send a sample to a university to have it tested?

If you don't want to do any of that and go at it blindly.. Throw horse or cow manure and 10, 10, 10 fertilizer on your garden than till it under. Take fallen leaves and limbs and pile it up on your garden and sit it a fire.. Spread out the cold ashes on top of the soil and till that under.. Now plant a soil building crop.

If they are just complaining because they don't like you for having a garden. Take a baseball bat to their mouths, and that will solve that problem.
