Good, Moz is absolutely terrible and deserves to go. Then maybe LTP will finally use Majestic and maybe Ahrefs for BL count.

 

Moz is terrible. The metrics are so easily gamed and manipulated. While TF seems to be more accepted, that is not always accurate either. People need to get into the habit of manually checking..

1. Backlink profile (spammed anchor text densities)
2. Site history ( Archive.org to make sure it wasnt a shady site in the past like pills, porn, poker etc.)
3. Power of the inbound backlinks (Authority links push all of the juice up to your money site)
4. Theme of the PBN ( Niche relevant is not necessary but tests prove they are more effective for rankings)

Ps. Kudos to Joash for that article. He is one of the leaders of the Anti-MOz movement.

 

yeah, Joash was always just on TF and me either, as it's really the only metric you can rely on, still checking backlinks and domain's history is mandatory...

Nothing going to work, I check only backlinks profile for buying domain, Everything else sucks.

 

If pagerank is not the ranking factor anymore for Google then what will be?, may be they just hide PR from public.

 

I remember back in June when I published the article about that fake metric people were wondering what am I talking about.

 

That is correct. They still use PR it's just no longer updated for the public.

 

I wish tools like LTP and Traffic Travis used Ahrefs for their backlinks instead of Moz which seems to be quite irrelevant.

 

Nowadays I only check stuff manually anyway. Less risk

 

So when analyzing the competition one should not look for the competitors PR and MOZ?

 

Cutts will have told them to get rid of it, so they can keep their immunity from updates and spread the word of Google.

 

Not relevant anymore as it might all be faked, just the visional backlink check is showing the authority of the site and the TF of Majestic...

 

I do still look at Moz's metrics, but obviously they are not reliable in any way on their own. Just another set of metrics that sometimes have some use when used in combination with other sets of metrics. It won't be much of a blow if they are on the way out though.
