Thought everyone would appreciate this seeing as you all seem to hate 1and1.

Got attacked by hackers this week and a lot of our sites got wrecked.

Because this has happened before, I finally decided to move the sites from 1and1 to hostgator - I used their reseller package so every site is on its own package and therefor not susceptible to any issues that the other sites may face.

Took about 3 days to move everything, but now only have 7 sites physically hosted on 1and1.

Lets see how hostgator compares now.

Surprisingly it already seems that its faster - one particular site took 2.5 seconds to load with 1and1. And now its on hostgator it took something like 1.9 seconds:)

One negative is that 1and1 keep 5 revisions of all files on a rolling basis, whereas hostgator only keep 1 weekly backup of accounts under 20gb apparently.

I haven't tried 1and1 yet and don't even plan to since have read a lot of "amazing" reviews about them if you know what I mean.

Have been using Hostgator for years and never really had any problem.
