I wasn't sure exactly what I was up against but I knew it was pretty competitive for my keyword. Now I'm starting to think I'm going to need a lot bigger budget (that I probably can't afford) and a lot more work besides these spam links. Not only do my competitors have automation links from blogs and profiles, they also have some from root domains that are extremely related by buying a link on their blog roll or even some of them being in templates those people made that other sites are using.

I'm not sure if I should keep going at it, I'm ranking 150 about and some of the competitors not even in the top 10 have these more valuable links and all I've done for my site is automated links, I never purchased any from root domains or partnered with template makers.

If your keyword was something like "buy viagra" you were always gonna be up against it. Don't mean to down on you or anything, but it does help to do some research on your competition before you dive into a particular niche.

That said, what *have* you done? Did you scrapebox your money site, or did you build a link pyramid or what? Tried for directory listings? Articles? Old domain? Lots more than just automated blasts.

How new is your site? I've noticed that Google loves to let me hang out in the hundreds for a week or so. I will be building links and then all of the sudden, bam! page 1-3 for the site.

As far as linking goes, you've already got some ideas from what you've said:
-I don't use profile links, but they still work somewhat. Just make sure that you are using a good service. I don't recommend Mega link blaster, but some of the guys that are selling services on here and other places get good results with the way that they do it.
-Buying links is probably the best way to get you ranked. It will be costly but worth it in the long run. Check out DP's link sales section and see if you can get a few links dropped on somewhat relevant sites.
-Blog networks are a good way to steadily increase you rankings. Sometimes you will even jump up to the top few pages if you do it consistently. I think it's because Google spiders the root domain of the network sites when your link is on the front page and that looks like a high pr link - even though you drop when new content comes into that site.
-Get content into your site daily. Target low-comp keywords with your blog posts. Then social bookmark and backlink those blog posts on a daily basis. Senuke is good for scheduling out social bookmarking (across a ton of accounts) to your blog posts.
-Build authority with social networks. Again, I use senuke for this. Basically build up a network of social network accounts. You do this by posting content daily (if you can). Point links to your money site and a few authority sites in your niche. Then backlink the crap out of those social sites to help build their authority.
-Blog commenting is a good way to get some links coming in also. Scrapebox works well for that.
-Videos - animoto to make the videos then post them around to the crap ton of sites out there.

I can keep going on and one, but I think you have enough with what I've described. If you do this right, you don't need to big of a budget. If you dedicate a ton of your time, you can out rank these guys, but you have to stay consistent regardless of how your site jumps around.

No, my keyword is a lot less competitive than that. I realized basically all they did to get these links with real PR from root domains was by sponsoring themes that are relevant to their site, I'm now doing the same.
Thanks. So far I've done pyramids and wheels, I have the site running on Dripable, I have a guy I use for Xrumer blasts, I have my own copy of Scrapebox I run all day everyday and I have Lindexed.com to get 100% of my backlinks crawled.
