I know there has been a few threads on FF3 in the past and I have had a hard time finding anything with search, so here's another FF thread.

I just received an update from FF stating they would no longer be offering updates or support regarding lower versions than FF3.

I had heard consistently bad things about FF3 so I never upgraded, but an considering it now.

What do you FF3 user about it?

When it was first released there seemed to be a lot of problems with it crashing but for the most part it seems stable now.

It crashes still. But atleast with a decent Restore Manager or Sessions Manager it gets back on its feet fast.

    Firefox crashes like crazy.

I still like Opera but FF3 plug ins are the bomb

I love it. I haven't had any trouble at all with it. The only weird thing is that as soon as I installed it IE stopped working correctly and has not worked correctly since. Talk about being competitive......... It could be that I am using a heavily modified version of vista ultimate but I don't know......

Regardless, FF3 has proven far more capable and stable than IE. I'm sold. I'll never use IE again.

Thanks guys, I really didn't want to give up FF.

One last thing, do I need to save my bookmarks or will that carry on through when I upgrade?

I had heard (A while ago) some people lost their bookmarks.

I always had a preference for Final Fantasy 7, though XII is good too.

I can't live without it and the developer toolbar plugin.

I have had terrible experience with FF3. In fact the first site I opened in it made it crash just several seconds after the update. It was crashy as hell for me, so I got an older stable version. It chokes on sites with heavy scripting and Flash.
That is my two cents. I wont upgrade until I know it is more stable. I do websites for a living and cant have it crashing all the time. But then again I am on a windows machine so I must be used to crashy software or just a glutton for punishment........

    Peace,
    O

FF3 is easily the worst release of Firefox to date and a major step backwards. I've started using IE7 again because it is more stable than FF3. That's amazing to me, but I got sick of FF3 crashing/freezing a lot more frequently than even IE and ran out of patience.

Was a big FF fan since its initial release, but it's simply gone backwards with version 3x.

I love FF3 and never have any problems with it (once I got all the plugins straightened out when the upgrade broke them all), unless the developer of a particular site just decided to say "fuck firefox". In that case sites look all wonky and I'll crack open IE if I have to, but otherwise, I love it.

Wouldn't surf the net without it.

Vista on the other hand... I seriously want to stab Bill Gates in the taint with a dirty spork. But that's another thread.

I've been using it since the early betas and haven't had many troubles. Like beta 2 or something was kinda crashy, but that was a long time ago. I've migrated all my machines to the latest version, and can't name any troubles I'm having.

Yeah, Mozilla did a really good thing with tabbed browsing when they released Firefox.

It took Microsoft light years to finally release IE7 with tabbed browsing. By that point, I was already hooked on FF.

    Tabbed browsing is da bomb!

Dam, surprised you haven't updated yet... FF3 has been fine for me since I downloaded it after some of those initial bugs were fixed, haven't looked back at downgrading.

Possibly the wost thing I have heard on the internets so far... wow
Stable? maybe, secure? You be the judge: http://secunia.com/advisories/product/12366/ vs. http://secunia.com/advisories/product/19089/

    sry, FF3 warrior here.

I don't trust any browser without add-ons or toold for security. It's going to not be sufficient "out of the box as is" just by the nature of what a browser does and the websites it accesses. Everyone knows that Microsoft-anything is going to have holes for that matter and exploits discovered.

What I expect is that it can manage to be used on a variety of sites without freezing or crashing. Until FF3, that was definitely Firefox but I don't think so any more, especially on Vista 64. From all the machines I have to administer, Vista-FF is problematic. FF2...not a problem, 3 yes.

Damn, thanks for the info but I don't know what the hell to do, FF2 says it is not going to support security any longer and that kinda bothers me.

    Sounds like 50/50 on go/no with FF3.

Well maybe I can go up to 3 and if it shits out on me I'll drop back down.
