I have a cousin that is going to be going to prison for bank fraud and will surely go into a federal prison. I am assuming it will be a low security prison but it may be medium security due to the amount of actionable crimes. He would be extremely lucky if he got a camp but I doubt that will happen. Anyone here been to a fed prison in the US and could tell me some of the things he should be aware of?
The OP didn't ask for your moral stance or opinion. @Basstracker - I think your cousin's prison experience will depend largely on the level of security prison he's sent to. If I were him I'd be crossing my fingers for minimum. Seems unfair to go away for bank fraud and have to bunk up with serial killers and child molesters.
There is no way of telling for sure what his path will be. I know a few people who have done years in the fed. My uncle made it to a camp and is there now. There is a pond and he feeds ducks and shit and is getting in good shape. A close friend did 6 years for runing guns. He had more problems was cleared for meduim type security but got tossed around alot. He got into 1 fight and spent a year in solitary confinement for "investigation." The main problem he will have even if going to a low security is getting moved around. He may end up in a high security jail until he gets cleared. If he gets transfered around this is likely and paper work seems to get mixed up alot. Everybody else I know is/was in State and thats a whole different world. As far as advice, the best I have ever heard is make your world those walls. Your time will go by faster the guys always stressing and having problems are the ones always on the phones and trying to be there and on the outside at the same time. If he has a wife and kids that is his main problem he will have not the soap.
If you don't mind answering, what kind of bank fraud? How many counts and how long is he looking at? My younger brother was using CCs for online purchases from his home PC and is now facing trial.
OP, have you seen the movie, Felon? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sr0zDhqfOVo maybe your cousin won't go to a prison like this for bank fraud, but it's a good movie
Someone gets up in your face just do them in. No talk, no blabber..Just swing first. Never turn your back on someone at the yard. Always try to keep your back facing where people aren't behind you. Always look at what people have in their hands. Hands tell a lot of things. Inside.Maximum.Security.E04.WS.PDTV.XviD-KAFFEREP <= watch this. You rather want to punch someone up and end in the shu for 2 weeks than get buttrushed or battered.
Hope: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWUfFwoe8ko IMHO one of the all time best...a must see! hxxp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111161/
i new someone that went to the same federal prison camp that martha stewart went to. it was very easy time compared to state. she went for wire fraud and identity theft. i have been told that any federal prison is better than state no matter what. how long did he get?
I think they're hotter on fraud over your side of the pond and I can't say much for over their but for sure, over here, fraud isn't usually too much of a concern, chances are you'd get two / three years for creaming a mill or two... then end up in a low cat prison with fellow low cat people, who'll train him how to not get caught next time lol. One thing I expect is still true over there is if he does end up in a high cat jail, he wants out of there asap. Only way that is going to happen is good behaviour! If all that fails, get him to walk in, pull off his shirt and shout at the top of his voice 'I'm the daddy, who fuckin wants it?'.
Haha, that must be from one of my all time prison films for youngsters from the 70's, titled SCUM. A good film it was!
He falsified 9 mortgage loan applications for a total of about 1.4 million. He has not yet been arrested but the FBI showed up at his door with evidence and spent 7 hours in his home showing him the evidence. The positive is that he has info on someone that the FBI is trying to convict and will benefit by sharing what he knows. I honestly do not know what kind of time he will get and he is pretty freaked out about it.
