Maybe it's because we visit BHW on a regular basis that we are used to a certain environment but to the outside world, things that are discussed here, are made to sound sensational on 'regular' on regular websites.

I saw this article today http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/...-like-facebook-again-until-you-read/81264440/

To be honest, the headline made my spider senses tingle a little. By the time I was two paragraphs in to the story I realised just how much things were blown out of proportion.

Honestly, if something like this can be termed as 'like farming' and then seen as a big deal then I wonder what they would make of things such as Like Jacking :)

Reading 'regular' websites sometimes puts things in to perspective.

Lol. This made me laugh so hard! Haha

Kim Komando used to have an interesting call in radio show... she may still have it but I don't listen to the radio much these days.

She's pretty technical so I'm a little surprised this is something new to her.

I think she'd go crazy if she were to find out about Like Jacking. She seemed genuinely concerned about Like Farming.

I feel like this "like jacking" and "sub jacking" should be kept a bit more silent.

Think of it as a method. I might be too scared but i bet YouTube & Facebook could of disabled those jackers to work if they ever got their dirty hands on the code, or even just see how it works.

The article title seems a bit like click bait and with you saying that she's pretty clued up on this kind of stuff then maybe she wrote it that way to get some attention to the article.

BTW, did your canoe stay where is was?

So you mention it on the world's biggest marketing forum

She is really sharp and a real marketer as well. Her radio show was a call in one where she would answer peoples' questions about computer issues, both hardware and software, and she would periodically just give away free products to callers.

I'm 1005 sure those were promotions by the actual company but she never made it come across like that at all.

Her website was also (and still is) well done and is set up as informational marketing. Smart, savvy lady.

The canoe never moved with all that water in it (thanks for asking) and the winds did not get much higher than 40 miles per hour from what they say so we only had to deal with a bunch of smaller branches to clean up and a day and a half without electric which was easily solved by going to a hotel.

Edit - just looked at her site and she is pushing Kaspersky who was a huge advertiser back in the day on her show.

And just below that article plenty of clickbait ads from Taboola

Man Taboola / Outbrain / whatever has been allowing some really crappy stuff on there. I've been surprised by the suggestions lately.

A while back it was all about the guy who learned 200 languages. But now I see some x-files grade stuff on there.
