I want to teach myself photoshop online.
What do you think would be the most efficient way?

Here is what I wish to accomplish:
    • be able to create quality banners and images for my website/blog
    • be able to design cool infographics.

I have around an hour to invest in learning every day. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks :)

First off, go to a guide website/forum. Go through some of the easiest guides you can find, font guides is perfect(this is where I started off) if you want to create quality banners and that stuff.
Go to some guides like "Galaxic Text Guide" and try off every single thing you learn in to the other stuff you try. Most guides explain really good what you are doing, and you will probably understand the most of it when you develope. Then just start making own projects! Think of something nice and try do it as best as you can do of what all that you've learned, read more guides, use your fantacy!
https://dribbble.com/ is a great site to take inspiration from. Check it out, if you need some free stock photos, go to http://unsplash.com/ or http://www.gratisography.com/

Even though im not designing anymore is still think it's really fun, and I wish the best luck to you!
    And have a nice day.

whenever i'm trying to do something new w/ PS, i just search for a preferably video tutorial, i'm pretty sure there are video tutorials for those too or even kits/templates
and if you don't just follow these tutorials, but you have some insight already, you can add your own touch, so you'll end up having something unique instead of the exact same copy of a tutorial

Get a tutor or a teacher.

Because I taught myself how to use photoshop but it took about 5 years and over 1000 youtube tutorials to learn all the more advanced shit.

Dude, have you ever heard of lynda.com? That place is pure gold when it comes to learning something new! If yo're unsure about the tutorial, see if it's available via torrent and if you can benefit from it, then buy a lynda subscription as you get extras etc, plus you can keep learning new stuff that can only make you better.

I tried learning a few years ago with no specific goal in mind and ending up repeatedly banging my head against a wall.

You seem to have a reasonable goal, which is good. You could probably get the basics in under a week.

Getting a mentor would be the most desirable course of action.

I would suggest learning from youtube only if you have two monitor setup so you can do and watch at the same time, if not use tutorials online, that show step by step, that's how i learned.

Coming from an Art background, I'll tell you that Lynda has some great courses. Digital Tutors is also a fantastic place.
Most of the best courses are premium ones that you have to pay. But if you're on BHW, I expect you to know where to find them :spy:

I chose to do the Adobe Photoshop Associate training and exam; however, that really only teaches you how to interact with the software and complete basic tasks.

I found the best way for me to learn was by working with it as much as possible and also watching videos, picking up new skills as I go. Good luck with it!

I used Youtube and just picked what I specifically wanted to learn and typed it into Youtube.

Never been a graphics guy, but worked for me. Looked at Fireworks too.

I have been using Photoshop forever and there a ton of good online tutorials that you can review. Also, I have done Infographic styled graphics as well and frankly I found it faster and simpler to create the images in PowerPoint and then cut and paste the images in Photoshop. You might also want to look at Illustrator if you are really graphic design.

Go to YouTube or Udemy (nulled videos somewhere) and learn from this. The best thing you can do it's stay hours on PC and try all functions in Photoshop.

I'm using it from 7 years and never seen a video or taken a lesson.
