I just registered a new site and there is 1 real strong competitor with my keyword. He has approx 300backlinks, 90% of them are digg comment spam. He also only has 7 articles which i already have more content than.

So how can i beat him out fast as possible? Do i need to do mass backlinks?

True . . . Just do 1% better than your competitors (more work and more authority backlinks) and you will win the game :)

Also don't forget to use your keyword as the anchor text when building backlinks.

is building maybe 20BL a day too much? Its pretty funny he had a PR5 digg comment and i commented the same thing right after him haha. Hopefully he doesn't see that or might be a wee bit upset =P

It depends on how aggressive your competitors are. Also, there are varied opinions on this. Read everything you can on the forum about one-way backlinking and then you can come to your own conclusion.

I wouldn't be too fast to create tons of backlinks and outrank everyone. It doesn't happen that way. I am still experimenting but I believe you should build backlinks gradually and age of the site also matters a lot.

Word well to over throw him at first place its going to be adsense site getting approx 200 views a day. He hasn't actually updated his website since jan 2008. Could i overtake him with less, higher quality BL? He has a few PR 4's and 5's but probably 230 out of the 250 he has is pr 0 diggs.

Yes I forgot to mention that.
I always use older domains and build a lot of backlinks.

Hmm. What a tangled web we weave when first we practice to hyperlink.

This is my favourite broken-english quote so far. It's all too true.
