Some of you might remember my famous artist method:
http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/making-money/53330-famous-artist-method.html
This is a similar sort of method but involves the music industry.
There are two ways about this method, one pretty illegal, and one which is pretty safe (i think)
First up, the illegal one:
I don't know if you are familiar with tunecore.com?
Basically it's a website where musicians can pay $10 to upload a song which will then be available on a number of download sites and whatnot, including iTunes and BeatPort.
The idea behind this method is to make a song/get one of your buddies to make a song. Make in a the same style as a famous musician (electronic music is easier coz you don't have to have any singing)
You then upload the track via tunecore, and put in the track artist and name as "Kanye West - Bongrocker" or whatever. Then post in a couple of hiphop forums saying that Kanye has released a new track called bongrocker. People should hopefully buy the track. Kanye West (or any other really big artist) has a massive follwing, and I reckon you could get literally 1000's of sales within a few days.
The only problem is you fucking with a HUGE company and you will, almost definitely get sued.
The second, and more legal way to do this is to make a track/get you buddy to make a track, upload it vie tunecore, but this time put in the name as pretty much anything you want (maybe use an anagram of a famous artists name, you will see why just now...)
Now, go to some forums and whatnot and post something like this:
"Hey guys, Kanye West has apparently released a secret track under the name {insert name here}. It's some phat shit yo!"
Like I said, this works better for electronic stuff, as the track doesn't need singing, and lots of electronic dudes are known to release under different name (look at aphex twin for example).
The second method, you not actually doing anything illegal really, and I reckon if you market this well you could coin it nicely. The obvious downside is you actually need a song to upload.
What you guys think?
