    Hi,

I see this domain for sale on Godaddy Auctions... it allegedly has PR4. It also has one of my keywords in the url and is a short url (7 characters) which makes it pretty sexy imho. Also the AGE of the domain is 12 years old. Which is also sexy. However. However. I think the PR is fake and was hoping someone with experience would confirm this. Here's the details

    http://www.prchecker.info/ says 4/10
    http://www.checkpagerank.net/ says it's valid PR 4/10
    http://www.rankchecker.com says valid PR 4
info:domain.com shows up the same url

So those checks look legit. However, ahrefs and OSE show 0 backlinks. Archive.org shows this for one entry (last few actually...)

Got an HTTP 302 response at crawl time

    Redirecting to...

Anyway. This auction is up in 11 hours. I need an answer before then. I am 99.9% sure it is fake but I don't know if age somehow confers PR it's only relevant links right?

    Thanks

    XH

0 backlinks = fake PR , even other tools show it have valid PR. Some tricks of faking PR can fool any tool.

Thank you for confirming. I was pretty sure but the agony of missing what would have been such a sexy domain was making my brain go haywire :)

Yup! Mostly it is a Fake PR domain. There are many ways to cross check whether it is legit or not.

    search this string on google:

info:domains if it returns same domain and it have pr it valid, if no fake.

However it dosent make any sense to buy pr domains with zero backlinks even if its valid one.

    Cheers

Forget about PR when buying domains. Look fully at the backlink profile, index status, and PA / DA.

Without backlinks it's unlikely to be true PR and more likely to be a redirect (or two) that has been from crawlers in the .htaccess or something similar. As I said though - you really need to look at more than just PR.

I checked into it more... nowhere could I find any links. Nowhere. Nothing. NADA. If PR comes from links, then there is no way this has any PR. Which sucks. I was thinking to start building a network of sites starting with that one.

If there's no backlinks to be found. Always assume PR is fake even with info: operator matching.
