I have written some apps to automate some stuff for myself using embeded IE control and MSHTML.

One thing I am getting worried about is that the sites in question will look at their logs and even though I mask my IP, my computername environment variable will be the same.

How do I go about faking/masking this?

Are you sure IE gives away the computer name? I thought it only sends the useragent string.

I do my programming in QT which uses webkit and I can change the useragent string.

Man, if I could work out how to change useragent string in IE control that would be so awesome. I'm using IE control cos these MOFO's using javascript that I don't know how to parse with the HttpRequest class.

I remember making a php script ages ago that showed me computer name and username. But my memory might be playing tricks on me.

I just tried to test what variables IE control was passing by writing a php script but I'm having bit of a brain freeze. I can get code to show the hostname, but can't remember how to get username.

Also HideMyIP changes hostname eachtime it resets which is cool.

1.40 am here. Not going to bed until I have an application that rapes and pilages :AR15firin

I'm thinking back on where I went wrong. I think I must have run the script on my local server on the same box i browsed to it from and I really pulled the server name.

    D'oh!

Can I play with any settings like refer in the webbrowser control?

** edit ** Lol, looks like I can just add any extra headers I like with Navigate()
