Here's a dilemma maybe you seasoned BHWers could help with:

One of my domains is a couple years old. But never had more than a couple pages of test content. Which did get indexed in Google.

Recently I decided to do something with that domain and added a bunch of autogenerated (but quality) content. Using Wordpress. And I backdated some of the posts to around the date the site was registered.

So now, "all of a sudden", the site has content dating back to its creation date thru current.

The Dilemma: Is it a good idea to create a G Sitemap and submit it to Google? Or is that too much of a sandbox risk?

Your thoughts would be appreciated!

Sandbox usually comes into play when a brand new site starts to shoot up the SERPs, then google will give it the back hand. Especially in niches that attract spammers. If you submit the sitemap you won't get sandboxed.

Let me change that a bit, all I buy is preowned domains, I always backdate the posts. I use the sitemap plugin on wordpress. I've never met the sandbox on a preowned domain.

Try social bookmarking. There is a guy on this forum who submits to 100 social bookmarking sites for $8. May take sometime to revive but this will get G00gle's attention and get indexed again.

Would a wp plugin like "Social Poster" have the same effect you think?

my experience follows this too, so long as google has already indexed the domain a long time ago.

the only time I get problems is when I buy a used domain name and change the ownership details. I cant prove anything, but google seems to reset the domain too and treats it like a virgin domain name.

Interesting. So if I sell the site as I plan to do, then the new owner could run into problems if I understand you correctly?

But people buy aged domains all the time because they are aged. And if what you are saying is correct, and G treats the transfer of ownership like a virgin dn, then wouldn't that be a huge problem to domain/site buyers and defeat the purpose of buying aged domains? I'm so confused

What are you experiencing? I'm too cheap to get private registration so I know everytime I buy an old domain my info replaces the old owners. Do you change the domain from the general topic of what it was previously?

For example, if I buy ESPN.com and then try to use it to work a viagra niche, there will be a temporary penalty for that domain. But that is waaaayyyy more tolerable than being sandboxed.

So I'm just curious as to the issues you are running into.
