    Hey guys,

I am selling on Facebook via Shopify Dropshipping and things are decent. I just put up a new product thius morning and I have already made a sale. After making the sale, someone pointed out to me that it was fake and after searching for myself, he's absolutely right.

What should I do now? Each sale pockets me about 100$ profit. Do I refund the purchase, cancel my ad or keep it going and cash in on this anyway? Legally speaking, must I shut down?

Without giving away my product, I could campare my ad to selling the new iPhone 8, thinking it was real and finding out that it hasnt even been announced yet but someone baught it.

    Thanks.

My chinese supplier sent me a link to his new product. They basically made a fake item and are selling them as legit. I made the sale, purchased the item and they are shipping it to him. Basic dropshipping.

If something bad happens it can come back to bite you.

I would probably shut that down and find another product as it is clear you know how to market and just need a product that has a much lighter chance of being problematic for you.

This product is made so nicely that I was fooled. I really had to dig online to see that it didn't exist. People will love them until the real product comes out and then hell will break loose.

Breaks my heart to shut this down...

As a Canadian, am I legally bound in anyway?

I do not know the laws up there but in the USA that would be considered some kind of fraud and certainly against the law.

    Can't say.

Ok What if I absorb the price of the real product when it comes out and send it to them free of charge with an apology letter about the mixup. It would cut into my profits but I would still end up on top.

If it is me I'm shutting down the ad, refunding the people and using my skills to find something legit to market.

You're a smart guy if you are making decent cash on FB ads and it would make sense to me to go the legit route.

Thanks for the advice. I think I found a workaround that may be ok. When people click on my ad, it brings them to my product page and I have a special disclaimer explaining that the authenticity may be an issue but that I will honor the purchase with the right product free-of-charge.

I wish I could give you guys more information about the product so that you would understand but it will get saturated like hell. While I used an iPhone as an example, what I'm selling won't nearly have the same impact. A closer example would be like selling a Harry Potter Necklace and find out it isn't official. Though with this product, Universal has no right on it even if they make the product.

I know it's a little vague but I'm trying to protect my niche lol. Once this is all said and done, I'll give you all the inside on what I was talking about ...

I think the disclaimer will protect me and I'll look into it. As for my future ads, I will steer clear from these products and go back to my little grind.

You should hide your niche just as you are as otherwise you'll have 40 competitors by the time the cows are coming home for the evening.

That may be a good workaround and I hope you find some more products that make the same kind of money but are more on the legit side.
