    Hello BHW.

I recently acquired a new (deleted) domain. (* This is a domain whose purchaser did not renew, and the domain went back onto the open market). I bought this domain as it had good trust authority, page rank, and other metrics.

I typed the domain name into " the Internet archive - way back machine' (* this is a website that stores history and snapshots of the web). on this way back site, I found the domain I purchased. On the domain there was a bunch of articles written from 2009... and not much else.

While understand it is black hat, is there any authority or " school ground rules", that says if you have information on expired domain, that information stays with the domain? Can I be penalized through Google for this (* As the information was originally on the site, the information is just back on the site). Can any legal repercussions come of this?

    Thank you

That would involve transfer of copyright, and you don't own the content unless it was included in the sales contract. You just bought the domain name.

Can you be penalized for content that no longer exists? No. As for owning what was previously posted, if you really want it that bad, do a who is search and then look for the owner before you, and contact them.
