Say that I just want to promote my blog on FB, no CPA shenanigans or going against TOS. All I want is to get people to visit my blog site.

So where is the best place to do that? Is it a dedicated fan page related to the blog, or just posting to friend walls in regular user accounts?

Also, how many fan pages can one admin have again assuming you aren't doing anything against FB TOS?
    thx

I'd make some non-specific fan page & getting tons of fans to it, from there you can drive the traffic anywhere, to your blog or to your other fan page that related to the blog.

To be safe keep 1 page per account, so if 1 page and the account gets banned you wont loose anything else

    Jaerehan, thanks for the advice.

So on regular accounts, If I just do some wall posts to my friends like promoting a blog post or something, does that not work as well as just using a fanpage?

It works, but will you post on hundreds of friends walls? If you can bring a fan page over 100k its easier from there all the way, and look much less spammy

A regular account is limited to 5000 friends, as for the fan page..unlimited! The only problem though is creating such a page that goes viral and gets alot of members, if you can do that, you are laughing! :) If not..stick to a few accounts and build up the friends then make a page (invite all friends etc)

Sorry for my noobness, but I thought when you do a wall post (or is it a status update) in your regular user account, then it gets posted to all your friends walls at once. Am I wrong?

So there must be a bot to post to all your friends walls at the same time, which then would be seen by everyone of their friends accounts.

I read somewhere that the average user account has about 35 friends. So if you had 5000 friends in your account and each one of them had 35 friends, then your post would potentially go to 175,000 people. Is my math right?

Atheleted, what do you use to automate this and are you using proxies as well?

Although your math is correct..it doesn't usually happen, for a couple of reasons! When you post it, many people do not click/care about it and move on, another would be that when you post it, they are offline and as the day goes on, your message gets pushed down the pile and is never seen!

Just from what you guys tell me, a fanpage would probably convert better than regular account postings. If you think about it, if you are going to accept the fanpage invite, then you are probably going to go in at least once and check it out.

Plus a fanpage invite is probably more prominent to a friend because it sits on their profile until they accept or deny it, not like regular posts which get pushed down or people never really cared about in the first place.

I'd say a fan page - Invite the friends, hope it goes viral ;)
