can you believe that? so because i own a few domains with "facebook" in it all of a sudden they think they can bully me around? i mean these guys over @ facebook really do think they own the world i think lol well...i will respond by saying i am willing to resolve this matter for like 1 mill .. after all thats chump change for you guys right? haha unreal facebook is wow!
how many lawyers do you have? or how much money do you have to invest into one. you will run against a wall and just waste your time.
Asking for money implies bad faith. Your likely to lose all your domains with Facebook in it now. Especially if they take you to court. Unless your a multimillionaire / billionaire. I highly doubt you have the resources to even last in a court battle against them. Even if your right they will bully you out. Not to mention if your info is fake and they get wind or the registrar finds out you will automatically lose them.
yeah man, asking for money right from the get go is a sure way to lose your domains. Classic sign of a cybersquatter. cybersquatting is also illegal. If i was you i would give the domains up quietly and without a fight. Good luck to ya
Sorry, but using their trademark in your domain name is pretty cut and dried. You will lose the domains, you won't get a penny for them, and they won't even have to take you to court for them.
how is it that they don't bother sexsearch.com for their ads that are plastered all over the place for: "facebook of sex" ?
Actually, I'm pretty sure they're suing them for that. But that's using their trademark in an ad -- which means they do have to sue them for trademark infringement, and they may not be in the US, and so on. With the domain name, they just send ICANN a letter, and it tells your registrar to transfer the registration to Facebook, and they do it.
I got a pretty good attorney who specializes in corporate law. Let me know if you need any assistance.
Basically you are violating their trademark. You aren't even allowed to use facebook, or any other trademarked term in a sub-domain (facebook.domain.com). Basically you are infringing on their registered trademark and there is nothing you can do but give them the domains and be glad they don't sue the shit out of you.
famous last words. unless you have millions of dollars to waste then go for it, if not let the domains go.
You can't win. And even if you had a chance responding with a money offering kills any chance you have. There was a similar case involving a kid who owned a domain with Microsoft in it. He lost, obviously.
seriously... it wont be worth your time and money..... until and unless you are ready to spend a million dollars on it... (only to loose everything...) you can better consult a lawyer before you take any decision... better to just let the domains expire
This is happening only because facebook is the most popular social networking site now. They became so much commercial now a days. This thing is really embarrassing me a lot. After some days they might not permit to open a free account.
Amazing statistics Code: http://www.facebook.com/press/info.php?statistics they claim to have 250 million users... another interesting article Code: http://www.physorg.com/news166941296.html if you can not beat them..join them... just let go buddy..like everybody said...it's not worth it...move on
why would you even bother buying trademark names? some people just dont have a clue.. of course theyll come after you dumbass lol.. what did you expect?.. you play with fire and you will get burnt.. simples!!!
Like I suggested in the other thread. Take a picture of yourself sleeping on the sofa with a book on your face, upload it and call your website: "My collection of face book pictures". These are dictionary words so they can naff off. You can only get into trouble when using these domains in affiliation with FB.
Fighting them in court won't make you anything more than a poorer guy. They'll drag the case on for so long that you'll be shit out of luck and money and you'll have to settle with them - that's an additional cost on top of your lawyer fees and their lawyer fees, so you figure out how you'll bend over and say "yes daddy" the most quiet way. There is no way they'll pay you $$$. In fact telling the lawyer that will just piss them off some more and actually drag you to court. Oh and after that they'll simply just take over your domains and kill the pages. Simple. Best advice: Move on while your fingers are still not near the bonfire. You should be happy they sent you a C&D
