    I need some advice...

I'm a freelancing photographer by trade and have neglected my fan page simply because only 10% of the fans see them. If I post anything on the fan page I usually post it on my profile page as well. Lately, I've been doing more promoting through my profile since it has a bigger following. I'm not offering discounts or selling anything outright, just adding pics from photoshoots/weddings to generate interest.

With the dismal viewing percentages does it make since for artist/freelancers to have fan pages? I'm at point trying to decide whether or not to totally delete my fan page OR try to really build it up and curb my profile posting.

It seems the only reason to start using the fan page more would be because it might be seen as more professional?

A little advice. Post on your fanpage and tag your private profile. It will appear also on your profile. It's the best. You need that fanpage to look more professional. Also you can try FB ads. It will bring you followers. Good luck!

Thanks for the idea! I'll try that.. I agree the fanpage seems more professional. Just hate the limited viewing you receive.

Don't worry about that, as long as you don't spend too much time with it, any little thing helps. I'd suggest you automatize the whole process, have an auto poster post to your page then share that post to other relevant groups so you free up your time.

Sounds like you can turn FB into a good source of traffic, I wouldn't neglect the fan page. If you just give it 20 minutes of your time every day, I think you'll already see a difference in a couple of weeks.
