Obvious PR stunt. October 1st is approaching and Zuckerberg has always been uncomfortable with anything discussing Facebook's (or his) history.

Yeah, so it's a PR stunt. Big deal! It's great that this money is going someplace that needs it. We could use more PR stunts like that if you ask me.

The 3rd link is from Business Insider as well, but they linked to San Fran weekly. It really is a VERY INTERESTING read and if you read between the lines you can learn a few things.
Well what is really interesting is the transcript of the event that they link to. "According to Zuckerberg" link.

That's from the 2nd link I posted above. This is only scratching the surface.

The facebook movie is about to come out... portrays him in a bad light for stealing the site... hence the $100 mil to charity. Smart move.

Precisely. I love the Avatar too.

I would also like to add, if anyone doubts the validity of the claims made in the 3rd link I posted in post #7 (Facebook's connections to certain Organizations & entities), then I can post a video to Google's own Googletechtalks channel on Youtube. From a professor from Stanford I believe. Basically linking Silicon Valley & the CIA/Military Industrial complex as far back as the 50's.

I wonder if he gave real money or just some of his Facebook stock... or maybe he gave $100 million in Facebook Credits :]

lol why would he gamble with it. regardless of his motives, at least charities that can really use it now have 100 million to work with. Millions of people will be helped out by this donation.

I most certainly agree its a PR stunt. It is like companies that say they "raised" money for charities but never actually hear "given" to charities.

I used to work at Facebook and can tell you that Facebook does sell information to advertisers. There is an entire department devoted to inside selling to third party members. These are a list/group of very tight advertisers that need the information to market to the right people.

Although good for those kid if they get the money, and however motivated (or ill-motivated) Zuckerberg is by this donation it is still going to something good. If it ever gets donated.
