Hi All, before writing this I made a search in google and here as well, and I couldn't find this theory mentioned anywhere, so I share with you what I heard today.

I was in a well known local conference for bloggers and youtubers. There were discussions about different topics, content making, monetizing, etc. One of the things that I heard and made me think is the theory about facebook lower reach. That person (a very known personality with a really huge engagement and followers on YT and FB as well as other social networks) said that he tries to avoid paying for Facebook Ads or boosting posts, because according to this theory just the fact of having an Ads FB account and having a Credit Card added, makes the facebook algorithm lower drastically the organic reach.

So having and Ads Account on with a card turns on a red light in FB and "says": oh this person seems has the possibility to pay for Ads, so let's lower the organic reach, so they'll pay to reach more people.

This guy has a an Ads account, but uses it very very rarely per year. (But he didn't say if it has this account on a Manager of his fanpages or has the Ads account linked to a personal account that is not linked to the Pages at all ...).

What I can sat is that:
-He doesn't know if this conspiracy theory has sense or not, but knowing how knowledgeable this person is, I feel to believe it.
-I feel all my accounts were affected by this, and I think it is real too. I was having very high organic reach, till I was boosting posts 5$ rarely. There was a month I paid 50$ twice to boost 2 posts. In that quarter, after this date, ALL my pages dropped the organic reach 12x or more.

I am wondering where to try to delete the Ads Account, or remove from the managers of my pages my account linked to the Ads account. Maybe my reach will go up?

Please consider my post as a "fairy tale". It is not confirmed nor official, but if somebody of you also noticed a similar behavior, please share your experience.

This definitely has my interest.. I haven't paid any attention to this, but certainly am going to from now on.
It wouldn't surprise me in the least - FB makes its own rules, absolute monopoly on the niche marketing industry.
    Bullsh*t.

I agree with him. For example, I had a page with 300 likes/photo before paying for ads. During the campaing, of course the number of likes increased to 600 or 700 likes/photo. Now, my page is much bigger (full of hot-targeted people) but it's being really difficult to get 300 likes/photo! So, my advice is: don't pay for ads or do it rarely!

Right, I have ~10 pages, all of them have been affected. I have both community pages and business pages, of which 1 is verified.

I was promoting posts and buying fans from FB Ads on one of those pages which had 50.000 fans. Another page had ~6000+ fans. (Both business pages). After buying fans all those pages dropped in organic reach. Not only them, but also all the other pages I have, business and community pages. The verified sign doesn't seem to give any privileges in organic reach.

I Dont agree with this Theory facebook surely wants you to spend but lowering reach has nothing to do with ads accounts

    Now take an Example

I have 8 Pages in one Account

Page 1 Was having 10-12% Reach
Page 2 was having 4-5% reach

In Month 2 Page 1 Gets 3% reach
    Page 2 gets 18% reach

    makes this theory wrong

Wow i agree 100 percent with this theory and i have an addition. OK i started advertising my fanpage about 5-6 days ago. The page is new and didn't do anything before. Started posting and started an ad to get optimized page likes. It started great and i got about 1000 likes in 3-4 days. My posts started to get about 10 likes each and 70-300 reach. I stopped the add campain yesterday. The moment i stop the ads my posts started getting 15-70 reach. It is really weird because i was just focusing page likes not post boosts. The interesting thing is as soon as i start the ads again even the budget is too low my organic reach is getting higher.
