So am I SOL or is there an opportunity to make them purchase it to settle?
Lol time to close shop or change you logo / site layout buddy. Dont mess with facebook
Let them pursue!
On the other hand, will you make enough off of that domain to warrant the headaches that you may get from going in and out of court? Sometimes it's better just to let it go and find another opportunity.
By the way, face, book, of, & sex are all English words. It will be hard. If you registered Facebook.info (which I'm sure is not available), it would be a different story.
Ya, don't mess with Facebook. They'll take you down...
First off, I wouldn't mess with anything on a legal basis with facebook.
Second off, does he actually need to change the layout? It looks like the CU FacebookSex landing page (or at least it looks identical to the one I use from them, except I don't have a domain redirect.
Yeah it's forwarded
Better stop using the domian..
it wont be worth your time... as ull get screwed royally.... while earning a few hundreds and spending a few thousand
QUIT ON IT
EDIT: dude what were u thinking ....
its almost facebook without minor editing
I see your site forwards to faceboooksex.com
I think they might have you on this one.
Of course they have only sent an email so far. The next step will be an actual certified cease and desist letter. You can wait for that letter to arrive before you take them serious.
If you blow that off they have the $$ to take you to court and I think they probably will on this one since it is a direct use of their name and likeness.
This is just MY Opinion(So take what I say with a grain of salt).
If Facebook is giving him hell for his redirect, how come they haven't issued a cease and desist to CU since its part of their network and his domain is just a redirect?
If you're in US, CA or Europe .. you're in troubles, their copyrights and trademark are protected by the international law..
You need to change some things, start a serious website, start a new IM way and make money daily
Maybe they have, or maybe they can't find anyone to serve (offshore?) LOL
Oh this is by far not my "way." I haven't even began to send traffic to the forwarded domain. My "way" is a steady $300-400 daily. Not much but it provides much fun.
Dont listen to anyone who says fight it. You will loose quickly. Shut down shop
Facebook: A reference book or electronic directory made up of individuals' photographs and names; A college publication distributed at the start of the academic year by university administrations with the intention of helping students get to know each other better;
The term facebook came before the actual site did, plus a facebook of sex could be a book or electronic directory of pics and names. I think they are trying to scare you... Tell them to fuck off, at least that's what I'd do...
I have quite the email convo going with their "domain manager." It's comical. Stay tuned for the post.............
You will be in trouble if you don't shut this website. Look at the brighter side. I agree with JCsarokin , if you fight ...you will loose quickly.
Still waiting on one more reply.....
Well you have options. If you're prepared for a legal battle, you will win. If you can't afford it then you need to take your site down.
As the post a few above me said, a facebook existed in the English language far before the website. And your domain is just words of the english language that may have nothing to do with infringing on the companies rights at all.
In my opinion, keep it up until you see something legal, then take it down. I have a feeling these guys know they will almost never win a lawsuit over the term because the very name of their company is just an uncommon noun.
Say you are writing a book and 'face' is an acronym for 'Fast Arousal Clitorus Enhancer' Book of Sex. You just didn't want the long domain name
Updated the email conversation above. I think I may photoshop a facebook logo tattoo and send it to her.
lol, on how you thought you were right. shows how much you know lol.
why would you even think you had a chance on a trademark?
come on tho man, what were you thinking?
or was this just a joke thread?
i just relized that you truly thought you could sell this domain to facebook. LOL very comical.
Separate names with a comma.
