What kind of punch does Facebook give for sheer backlinks from a SERPS perspective?

Do backlinks on Facebook accounts actually boost you in Google... or are they without value? I know most people use FB for actual sales marketing, but what about it's backlink value???

And if Google doesn't give FB backlinks weight does either Bing or Yahoo!?

FB no-follows all of their external links, so I would presume no link-juice is passed. I know I've disagreed with the no-follow = no juice belief in the past, but I've noticed that I can't even get links from FB to be recognized in any of the major backlink checkers that I use.

That's interesting... it MIGHT be that the backlink checkers can't "see" the actual backlink due to the way FB is coded. Or it might just be that they're worthless... but my gut feeling is that there is something there.

Are there any softwares that crate bulk FB accounts and automate posting... I'd like to do a research study on this to see if Facebook backlinks alone can move a brand new site.

Are you posting links on publicly viewable fanpages?

I'm guessing he probably didn't. For backlinks you'd have to make SURE the posts were public. We need to explore this more...

These style of links have been tried by forum members before and are yet to show any positive results. They're fine for getting traffic, but their SEO value is nothing. Even if it did something, it would be completely negligible due to it being no-follow; as such your time would be better spent elsewhere.

the only way i could think it would really effect it was if the site it was backlinked to was a really good site with a lot of info where people would spend time actually on the site, and the pages were backlinked on thousands of big pages and millions of profiles.
other than that it would probably just be for traffic.

I'm afraid most people would say that social signals (like FB) doesn't do much for ranking on the SERPS.

I guess it would help to have some backlinks to make everything look more natural, otherwise having too many backlinks and traffic, and no social signals to your website might appear weird to the search engines.

So it seems that FB backlinks have no actual value for increasing SERPS in and of themselves, but they won't hurt anything.

It seemed that it would make sense for Google to value FB backlinks more for two reasons: 1 it's a good gauge of what real people talk about and 2 if they value it more then people will spam FB to death and ruin it the way Twitter was and that would only make Google+ stronger by comparison.
