Facebook external apps

Hi- looking for some info here please. I'm using neoapp at the moment and it's going quite well ($1k in the last week). I've been reading a lot about hosting an application externally and that apparently this will mean the facebook app lasts for long.

What exactly does this mean i.e. how do you host an application externally?

It means the app is on your site not embedded on FB, so you send visitors to your landing page and they have to do the same thing as they do on FB. If you don't promote on FB to get traffic to your apps this is a great way to grow your application.
