Not sure what this is called and search isnt helping me out

Im doing some work for a uni project. I want to search for info, comments, threads in FB or indeed anywhere on the web.

Its all part of a competitive intelligence project

I know companies can find comments made about them but is there a way I can search for the same kind of stuff?

Help would be great please :)

First, what exactly are your data sources.

Second, do you want firehose access to twitter? If so, that is going to cost you a pretty penny.

Tumblr firehose isn't that great, since its a bunch of meme's and it is hard to correctly filter out what your looking for from the Tumblr firehose.

Third, how much money you got. Again if you want live streams as they happen, especially from twitter firehose, it is going to cost you.

There are 2 Services you can use that will give you access to twitter firehose and more

    Datasift.com
    Gnip.com

You can also try to use topsy.com, they do have access to twitter firehose, however the other 2 services are more suited to build apps around it. Especially Datasift, company is going very strong and you can literally filter out your tweets by very complex rules.

Now there are a few other sites too you could use.
