Hi all. 1st post here. Very interested in the group and see a tremendous amount lf knowledge offered here.

Would love some thoughts any here may have:

Running ads in a reverse commerce/arbitrage niche.

I advertise on FB asking consumers to sell me specific products at a low price then immediately sell to a wholesaler at a very very good margin. Proven market.

A handful of top players but seemingly a lot of room for entry.

I took one of the top players ads and almost copied it exactly. Also offering more to our potential customer base than they do to our consumer base.

ZERO sales on my site, ZERO interaction on my ads while they get hundreds of shares and comments on their ads and seemingly they lead to sales.

Any thoughts on what I'm missing?

    Targeting? Landing page?

Landing page extremely similar to all others in niche.

    Super frustrating.

    Thanms in advance!!

Hello Hai..thanks for the offer! I will say I'd rather not give out my niche. I'm sure you understand.

What exactly would you be looking for on my fb fan site? Maybe that will help.

You should always be running two ads, more specifically two versions of each ad you're running, to enable yourself to be constantly improving click-through-rates. That general concept, while insanely simple, is unbelievable powerful. If you want to learn more, just google "split testing" or "A/B Testing".

Integrating split testing into anything is one of the most fundamentally-powerful improvements you can make; Advertising, Landing Pages (Google Analytics even accommodates it I think), Copy, pick up lines—anything.

Thanks! I actually did start out with 10 ads anc cut out the 2 worst performing so far..

Click through is a little over 3.1%

Which is avg and I'm more worried about why no engagement or sales when I have had 100s of targeted clicks.

Without having specific info, and assuming your ads are running normally, my only guess would be bad targetting.

    PS. Welcome to BHW.

    Thanks! Glad to have joined.

I believe it is bad targeting to however I have no idea how to find correct targeting in this case. Any programs or ways oit there to find out who competitors are targeting? I got their ads running to me and I click why am i seeing this ad. Tells me nothing lol

I do apologize for the limited info. Sure it's somewhat hand tying in being able to help further.

Awesome! Sounds like you've got started out on the right foot.

Another good saying I heard somewhere (probably in some cheesy marketing book) regarding split testing:

First test the forests, then test the trees, then test the branches, then test the leaves.

Basically that means split test BIG changes first, like whether the background of your ad is a naked chick or a solid pattern. Then move onto testing different body types, then ethnicity, then eye colors...

Hone in on the details, starting big and whittling your way down to the minutiae.

Yeah, correct targetting is the gold mine ;)

It's a big part of what we do.

Reverse engineering your competitor's target audience is part of the work you need to do.

There are programs that can harvest who liked your competitor's posts, but then you need to find out who they are and what group they belong to.

The way people automate this is by using one of the FB marketing softwares out there and they're not very smart. You have simple rules like "post to wherever john posts" or "post to the same groups". Because that's not very smart, you end up posting about bananas in a Harley Davidson group.

So in essence you could mine your competitor's followers and then post where those followers are active. That'd be one strategy.

It's all about knowing your target audience, that's why marketing is a thing, you need to think about where you're going to sell x thing.
For example, if you sell diet products, you join groups of women in their 40s + as you know they will throw money at you. You also look for any magic diet groups or whatever trend they have like crossfit and whatever.
The number one rule of business is "know who you're selling to" ;)
