I've been having some good success with facebook ads lately and thought I'd share how. There's nothing too underhanded or black hat so don't worry about that, I'm just using how facebook presents images to get much higher rate of clickthru's than usual.

The image below is an example of the image I'm using in my ads. It's really one image, but using the white bars makes it look like thumbnails of multiple pics unloaded to a post.

Notice the middle pic of the girl on the bike, is she or isn't she wearing pants? Now most males out there will click the pic thinking it's a thumbnail. It's actually a link to my site.

I'm getting 15 - 20% clickthru rates on some of my better performed ads using this method, although remember that you'll need something pretty good to convert them once they hit your site.

Hm... interesting idea. I think I could actually use this, not exactly in this scandalous of a way but still. Are you having good conversions for your product or are you doing an adsense campaign?

Isn't the middle image against facebook's tos?

    Code:
Ads may not contain adult content, including nudity, depictions of people in explicit or suggestive positions, or activities that are overly suggestive or sexually provocative.
Very good idea, it could work with "regular" pics i guess
    Thanks for your share

It could get retro'd if someone reports it or if FB decides to manually review your account. If your account is on auto-approve then you could probably slip in a naked girl ad and FB may not notice until later ;)

I should have made it clearer - I don't use a pic like the girl on the bike (wouldn't work for my market at all!!!), what you use as the bait is a image that your target would want a closer look at.

Actually ive used this method in the past.. it does increase ctr.. it was better when they allowed the play button on images.. now they removed it..

The key with facebook ads isnt PPC.. Its using cpm.. you want to target the ad as best as possible.. then bid on impressions.. ctr will be high because its targeted (if good post).. so keep cpm about 3$.. and if ad is 4% or higher youll be getting 40 visits for 3$.. whereas if you use ppc.. 40 visits would be like 15$

I've found that this is all a matter of testing and I always do both along with other split tests and then narrow down the most affective.

I had an idea. I made the above collage as an example of a different approach. The middle picture is colorized to possibly signify that if you scroll over an image it will change to a colored image, from a black and white photo, almost like a functioning widget. People might be interested and try and click to see more of the images in the collection. I don't know if it makes sense or not but I thought it could be an idea.

Interesting idea. My ads normally get good feedback within FB but very low clicks to the actual site. I like this. You can adapt the bait to several things, like "can you read the lottery numbers" or something like that.
