I'm an angry boy right now. I have a two year old blog, which I have been working at very seriously for the past three months. I have made daily posts, sometimes two or three, and worked hard to create a great authority site for my niche. (major league baseball)
I've been happy with the results and watched my rankings, traffic and affiliate sales (mostly Ebay and Amazon) consistently double from month to month. Lately my new posts were being indexed almost instantly and every post that wasn't targeting a super competitive keyword phrase was landing on page 1 of google.
I've worked hard and I tried to do it all whitehat. I wanted to create an authority site that would stand the test of time and would be a good resource. I've done no link exchanges, comment spamming, link buying and have never used duplicate content.
Where did this get me? Like I said, I was seeing great results from my hard work and steadily increasing natural search traffic. In May, I had my best month by far and even tripled my previous best in affiliate sales for the second straight month.
Then on May 30th - CRASH. My site fell out of the Google rankings. Not out of Google completely mind you, I still have nearly every single page indexed, but they are completely lost and buried so far noone will ever find them. My traffic literally went from an average 100 unique visitors a day to 2 a day overnight.
:wt:
All these great first page rankings are gone. People who have bookmarked or written about my posts are still visible on the first page. Links to my blog from social news Digg-type sites are on the first page, my blog that is being written about is nowhere to be found. I'm gone. Just when things were at the best .... GONE.
I'm mad as hell at f---ing google. Of course there's no way to find out what happened. Like I said, I've tried to keep this completely white hat in every way. I worked hard and tried to create unique content and post on subjects that weren't on my competitors sites. I looked at my blog every day to see how I could make it better and worked hard to do so.
And Google f---ing killed it.
It's almost funny to me, because I was about to do a post asking "how can I take my blog to the next level now?" because it seemed like everything was going so great. It seemed like making an income online was finally starting to seem like a possibility.
F--- you Google. I played by the rules and for who knows what reason, got slapped. Maybe it doesn't pay to play nice. Maybe you're trying to tell me that next time I should go blackhat all the way. Is that what you want? Okay, fine. From now on I'll never worry about your f---ing bullsh-- rules again.
