I don't curse often, but it's worth cursing at local packs! I haven't been able to make sense of what the factors are that determine the positioning of the local-pack in the SERP's... sometimes it's right before all the SERP's, sometimes it's after the top 3. I have a local leads site that had been sitting pretty at either #1 or #2 for many months, with the local pack appearing after the top 3. About a month ago, the local-pack appeared above the normal serps, so I pointed about 50 PR5 PBN links my money site, assuming that such a massive injection of authority would solve the problem. It did not. Any ideas? It does seem to bounce around, too, which tells me it's algorithmically driven rather than 'hard coded', but wtf are the factors that influence it?
