So I like many have been nailed by gaypal for some sh#t a$$, made up reason. They kept a good sum of my cheddar over some bullshit.

How does building a bad ass site promoting their competitor(s) sound? One real competition that jumped into the block is serve (just google 'serve')...this is basically a paypal clone, but it's run by a American Express. I have moved my $$$ from gaypal to them. They seem real cool and promise not to bully customers.

How can we use our seo skills collectively to nail gaypal and bump their competitors? Ideas...I like to see a forum like this nail those bastards...

Says who dude? this is reputation marketing. As long as big giants like serve continue to emerge, paypal will eventually lose momentum. There is no such thing as too big to fall, think yahoo (will die soon), think myspace (begging vevo to buy them) etc.

May seem like a futile effort and tall task, but it is possible. Question is, is it worth anyone's time to pursue paypal?

Either way this post is to let you guys know there is a real and valid alternative called SERVE run by American Express. The more of us that migrate the stronger and more relevant they become. Give this forum more credit, we can actually tip the scale more than you think.

For the record I don't work for SERVE, neither did I provide any affiliate link. I am just advising of a real alternative, not no alertpay and crap like that, I am talking American Express. Apparently more people are getting into that business, cus paypal has abused the monopoly. Their are talks of Google+CITI+Master Card coming out with something as well, Chase+Visa is coming out with something else as well. I am really glad.

If you don't go with a merchant that accepts paypal you will lose out big as they did away with their generate vcc plugin and people want to pay with their balance.

I don't use paypal but I use a payment processor that accepts paypal, moneybookers and credit/debit card. Some of these include plimus and 2co

Not accepting paypal altogether is a really bad business move even though they are a horrible company that I refuse to ever have an account with again. I can still accept paypal payments.

This is a more reasonable response, backed up with facts, versus just lip flipping. This is the beginning of the end for them, no matter what anyone says, they will either situp and be more thoughtful with their clients or bow out. There are real competitors making entry into this space, it will be a matter of time before vendors such as ourselves begin providing other payment options besides paypal. I am already allowing clients pay via SERVE, alongside my reg. payment processor (not gaypal). Paypal became popular cus they encourage users to create accounts before they can purchase from paypal powered sites. SERVE is doing the same thing now, people it is just a matter of time. My facebook ecommerce sites now have a SERVE badge. Don't care what anyone says....fuck Gaypal. they are bullies and they are about to pay for it big time.

You don't need an account to pay via paypal. They became popular because they were the big guys at the start, then ebay bought them years ago and integrated it into their auctions pretty much giving them 90% market share.

These other companies cannot compete, unless they allow the option of also accepting paypal balance, its that simple.

I tried to register at serve.com. But unfortunately its available only for US Residents at present.

Found the following news at Business Wire (NY)

Will definitely use them when they gone International!

I know that much but you clearly have not been observant. I have tried this time and time again. Here is what I am saying...paypal encourages you to get an account, true you don't need an ccount to pay. However do you know that they randomly reject credit cards -(with so much money flowing in it, it stinks of money)- when you try to pay directly without forming an account, thereby coercing one to register with them (cus @ this point u just want to make ur purchase). This has happened to me lots of times, I use a card not attached to gaypal, they reject it, even though it has money in it. I go over to overstock, amazon and use the same card it works, go to my online banking (I see I have plenty to cover the purchase). You tell me this is a fluke? Dude get serious.

I know they got even bigger cus of ebay, but celebrate this day cus its the beginning of their end. Even ebay will be forced to open up the playing field for others, it will make business sense for them. Their reign and monopoly is coming to an end.

For you guys outside the USA, relax this guys are American Express, no better person to go after paypal. SERVE will be in your country soon. Again I don't work for them and I am not providing any links to get commission. I am just celebrating the fall of Paypal. Anyone with half a brain will be able to look ahead and see a more even playing field. For many years these fools have reigned.

Really appreciate this info as I also look forward to the end of that monopoly. Getting main stream support for something as well backed as 'serve' needs to start with the ecommerce sites - namely the shopping carts themselves - they'll likely get plenty of pressure to add this one as an option... Just a matter of time as you stated... power to the people!

They reject the cards because it is tied to you. If the name/address/etc. is tied to a limited or banned account it will not be accepted. There are a few other instances you can read up on them, they don't want certain people using PayPal which is why they deny their cards.

I'm not defending PayPal, I don't use them a fucking hate them. I'm just saying if you don't accept PayPal payments, especially in the IM niche you are losing a lot of sales.

American Express is ran by a bunch of morons and thieves so I'm pretty sure this will not be much of a competitor to Paypal.

This is utter balderdash you are spilling: "certain people" (you have been bamboozled by their crap). "Certain people", this is paypal's way of thinking. If you read what I said, the account was not tied to any paypal account, had my new home billing address, the name on it is mine versus a business name that was on my troubled gaypal account. Why was it declined? Same happened in other cases with exact same scenario from my other bank accounts.

My gf, who by the way uses a san diego address, cus she goes to grad skul out there, experienced same. So then what is your point? She never had a paypal account. You suggesting she had no money in the account? She had plenty, amazon turned around and took the card the very next second. Paypal does this to make people jump on their bandwagon. How is it that they don't want me since I am "certain people", decline my card, but allow me form a paypal account the same second (their original intention)? Then the confirm my account, and all of a sudden magically validated the very same card they earlier declined.

If you guys get nothing out of this, get this...PAYPAL IS GOING TO SIT-UP or BOW OUT. Real manly competitors are arising. From American Express (SERVE), to visa+chase, to mastercard+citi+google...boy am I glad

I hope it happens but I doubt it ever will. Most people have the herd mentality, and will not stand against something until something happens to them that affects their lives.

I am having an issue with one of my Paypal Pro accounts as we speak. They limited our account because of too much money coming into our account even though we said that monthly sales where going to be around $100K. We sent them all the proper documents form our business. I mean, I can see if we where doing something shady, but we are a legit business that has been around for almost 3 years now, A+ rating with the BBB, nothing shady at all. On top of that we already had to send our corporate papers into them, with other docs. Now this is a second time. Now they want all customer invoices, customer addresses, and contact info. My partner had to actually take the time to print out over 100 invoices with the customers contact info on it.

I have been told they do this randomly and knowingly because when they hold large sums of money like this they make interest off of the money. I mean think about it. They froze our account and that had over $30K in it. Just imagine all the people and the amount of cash they could be making interest off of, if they did this randomly to many different people from month to month.

Anyways, I feel your pain brother. They are a shit company for sure, but I doubt anyone is going to do anything about it.

Check out http://www.paypalsucks.com/. Some interesting reads.

Dude thanks for your awesome input, this is a celebration not a way out. As we speak the big boys are in serious talks. American Express has manifested their effort to fall Paypal with SERVE. Google+citi+master card is working on something, visa+chase is on the job. Celebrate, they will be forced to release a lot of those limited accounts, as real competitors start to enter the mix. We are too small to make any real impact, but we can all begin to slowly migrate. Afterall this site houses lots of ecommerce owners, lots of consumers, lots of web designers, lots of seo gurus. Do anything that helps slow paypal down, while their competition takes over. As I said I am already accepting SERVE as a payment method now. I am walking this walk, 1 at a time, paypal will eventually fall.

Stupidity is a bad thing...just in case you missed the damn point of the thread: there is an alternative that will last the test of time. While you are running your mouth, I have received lots of pm thanking me about this...they have signed up to serve.com and that's all I needed. Keep in mind, it was a contribution to those that need it. Stick ya head outta ya ass and catch the damn train.

People like u are so damn annoying...u wanna derail the thread. Allow people grab the meat of it...which by the way is SERVE.COM (brougt by american express)...the best rival paypal has seen thus far.
