Hi guys just joined the forum, but have been designing websites and writing for about 5 years. I just recently started to get into SEO and have been browsing for about a month on Blackhatworld.
So far I've learned quite a bit about keyword research and on site SEO. I've been spending a few hours every night working on my site seo and content, but really haven't done any linking off site because simply I don't know where to start.

From what I've gathered I have extremely easy competition and getting a small amount of quality links would probably boost me to the top of rankings.

My site is an EMD, but I don't think that matters anymore.
My exact searches are 27k globally per month for my keyword.
My competitors have little to no SEO on page and the highest PR of those pages is 2. When I check for backlinks in Traffic Travis is registers one single backlinks for the #1 position.
From what I gathered I believe these sites rank high because they've been around for awhile but they are not truly trying to rank these pages, but simply got there because they have the authority.

I guess what I'm looking for is for a simple suggestion on where to start with off site SEO. I'm looking for something a bit quick since I don't need a lot of links to pass my competition and I would rather build content for my site since I find it more appealing and fun to do :)

Seems like doing all of that would be a bit overboard but I guess I could start off with a few web 2.0s
