I would go for Seagate, Maxtor is not bad but it's neither good, WD ... sometimes die just like that, if you have warranty you ofcorse get new one, but all data ... is lost!!

i would choose WD since i own two of them and no problems so far. just remember to make backups (images)

In US, Western Digital is the best in my opinion. If you want some very cheap deals or coupons, you can go to slickdeals dotnet

you can always find some excellent deals there.

boosey is right, using an external HD does make your comp work faster.

For me i dont like the ones i have to plug in for power i like it usb powered i have a 120gb harddrive thats a maxtor works great
