    Hi,
I scraped some authority websites in my niche and gathered a bunch of expired domains. These are mostly defunct small businesses. Metrics look like this-

    DA 20-25 PA 30-35
    TF 0-10 CF 5-15
RD 10-20 (mostly editorial links from authority sites)
No backlink spam (Moz and Majestic)
    No anchor text spam (Majestic)
    Dropped 1-3 times (archive.org)
AND, they had chinese/japanese off-topic content in the past (no porn/gambling etc)

Some were still indexed. I bought and built 2-3 of these with good content and they immediately indexed. Pointed them to some buffer sites - no results yet. I chose sites that ranked on pages 4-5. Its been 1-2 weeks.

My question is - Am I wasting my time with this project? Have they lost their link juice because of the off-topic content/ foreign language content/ being dropped? Are they in some kind of a sandbox?

I would appreciate any experience you have had with similar domains. Thank you.

I would not use such domains, I may have registered a few like that in the past, but nothing miraculous came out of it. It is easy for google to flag them based on their history, plus it seems google is cracking on expired anyway: and these will be in the first line of attack.
Regarding time, 1-2 weeks is short anyway, wait a few more weeks to see if any movement occurs.

I would stay away from those, as they were more likely used in PBNs already and potentially they were flagged.

I wouldn't even try those in the beginning too, since they are very likely old PBNs.
There should be a reason they are not used anymore. But since you have time to test them, of course it won't hurt. Some might come out useful :)
    One point though:
Did you link out from them immediately? I've read a few test results that it's not a good practice to link out from those early. Personally I wait at least 1 month after setting up those blogs, usually longer than 1 month.

also be careful if you host several domains with the same hosting company. google checks for things like that...

if you don't want to spread the domains you can try https://cloakhosting.com

they use various ip numbers so it's harder for the search engine companies (google, bing, etc.) to trace anything back.

Toxic, more often than not even penalized crap. Majority of expired sites with decent metrics nowadays were either Japanese (it's not Chinese actually) PBNs or regular English PBNs. Definitely nothing I would ever use for a longer term project. If you have some super spam site, feel free to use them if ROI is there, otherwise, stay away.

Thank you all for your answers. I registered 3 of those, I'll test them before adding to my network.
