I am new to expired domain finding. So I have been using the Mathew Woodward method of locating them. The problem is that about half of them that I find (they are considered alive if they return a 404 error) redirect to another blog. (I use Scrapebox for scraping)

So I am doing something wrong.

If they are returning a 404 why are the physically redirecting to a non-web 2.0 website.
For instance, chiapet.tumblr.com returns a 404 error in Scrapebox but it actually goes to chiapet.com when I follow it in a browser.

You mean scraping expired web2.0s? You will have to scrape tens of thousands in order to get some decent expired ones available to register again.

It sounds like you might be using proxies that are not working and returning a 404 error.

The URL chiapet.tumblr.com doesnt redirect for me, and it returns a 200 response and correctly shows as alive in the Alive Checker.

It could also be DNS Settings "Sticking" around after a domain drops. I've seen this a bunch of times.

More than likely, if this is happening frequently, its your proxies though. As Sweetfunny said.

You can test all the tools out there, and you will find false positives on each of these tools. I don't see it as a bug with these tools, but probably something to do with these platform nameservers, caching etc. So, unfortunately you need to go through several of these before you can find few actual good ones.

chiapet was just an example, it wasn't one I actually scraped and failed.

This is me, I am doing something wrong.

But I will see about my proxies. I use private proxies from a provider on BHW, but they are not the ones recommended by most of the tools I use. They cost about 1/2 as much as what the recommended ones do so I may need to make some changes there.

    Thanks

Try to use free proxies from this thread mate
    Code:
    https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/free-socks4-5-update-daily.887767/

Then, you'll get the desired results.

The issue seems to be related to expired or not responding proxy lists.

    OK,

I am setting up my search for Web 2.0s according to this URL. (It looks a lot like the Mathew Woodard one I used earlier. a lot)
    https://www.cpaelites.com/Thread-Th...2-0-Private-Blog-Network-SEO-Campaigns?page=3

404 is my success code. I tick the "follow redirects" box. I turn SB loose to go crazy on those URLs

I export all the Alive proxies (those that returned a 404) and when I manually navigate to them the blog exists. It shows me a working website, not a 404 page that would indicate I can likely register the blog.

That was with the paid proxies.

Now, I put the proxies from the post mentioned above into SB.

Using the proxies from the BHW post I have, so far, found no "Yes" answers. So none of the URLs have returned a 404.

While it process is not fully completed yet, I think it is obvious the paid proxies I have are not right for this application. Maybe they are timing out too soon or something like that. I don't know, but the 404 returns are very different. These same proxies work fine in traffic travis, and they seem to in the vanity name checker addon. They just have a 404 error problem.

Who do you recommend for a proxy provider? Should I ask , my current provider, to see if they have a solution. They are a BHW provider so they will likely be helpful.

I didn't ever had problem with proxies in sb. I actually use sb to check if they work before using in other tools.

I contacted my proxy provider. They say the proxies work so there is nothing wrong on their end.

But we know that when I used the other proxies for the BHW thread that the results improved.

so I need a new proxy provider.

    Who do you recommend?

    Edit:
I noticed Storm proxy in the signature so will look at them. Thanks
